Ferrari should win easily with the super reliability and superior chassis.

I hope to see a good battle between Williams, Renault and BAR.

Hoping for a little rain to add interest to the race.

So much going on on the first few laps, and Ralf had a heavy heavy crash into the wall, still in the car. Took a bloody long time for the safety crews to get to him too!

Ralf removed from the car with his neck in braces, immediately onto the stretcher. Does not look good at all.

Eventful race in the end. Everyone who finished, got into the points, which included Baugartner in a Minardi who finished 8th and last. We saw 78th win for Schumacher, huge accident for Ralf, who, according to Theissen is conscious and in the medical centre, which was all he wanted to say. Other reports indicate that he's doing ok. Sam Michael says the accident was not driver error, but probably debris that caused a tyre to fail. We also saw a black flag for Montoya, which, according to Michael was because they didn't get him out of his race car before the 15-second to start point. So yet another 0 weekend for Williams. Mclaren got both cars into the points the second time in succession, and Sato became the second Japanese driver after Aguri Suzuki who got the podium 14 years ago.

good race in my opinion, crazy amount of crashes though. I was also pulling for a top 5 finish for both the BAR's but it was a good watch none the less.

Michelin have blamed Ralf Schumacher’s tyre failure on debris from the incident at the first corner of the US Grand Prix.

Schumacher and fellow Michelin runner Fernando Alonso both crashed out of the race after suffering high-speed punctures.

Michelin competitions boss Pierre Dupasquier said the incidents had not been caused by any flaw in the tyres’ construction.

He said: “As far as the two accidents early in the race are concerned, Fernando Alonso and Ralf Schumacher suffered deflated right and left rear tyres respectively.

“We have examined the tyres and it is clear that both were damaged by debris that had been picked up from the track, probably in the wake of the multiple pile-up at the first corner.”

Gianmaria Bruni, Felipe Massa, Christian Klien and Giorgio Pantano were all eliminated in the accident, which was triggered when Klien ran into the back of Cristiano da Matta's Toyota.

Michelin had a clear advantage over Bridgestone all weekend but Ferrari still emerged as victors, much to the frustration of Dupasquier and colleague Pascal Vasselon.

Dupasquier said: “This was a race any one of several Michelin drivers could definitely have won, but the two safety car periods and other circumstances contrived to thwart us.

“It’s a shame, because our tyres have performed extremely well all weekend. They have been fast and consistent in equal measure, and we have had absolutely no blistering problems despite the fierce heat.”

Vasselon, Michelin’s F1 programme manager, added: “This has been a weekend of mixed emotions.

“It is very satisfying that our tyres showed a clear technical advantage, but frustrating that reasons beyond our control prevented us from capitalising on the situation. That’s motor racing.”

Looked like an extremely painful accident. Hopefully Ralf will make a full recovery but he's likely to miss the French GP. They sure took their time getting to him once he'd crashed, didnt they!?! :nono:

Woohoo I was there! Walked the pits thursday, went to all practices and prequali/quali, and then the race. Many pics to come. For a couple practice sessions and qualification and prequali I was up on the turn 9/10 terrace. For the first saturday practice I was seated directly next to the pits and saw Montoya flip off Trulli, which was interesting. During the first friday practice I was across from the pits. For the race I was seated by turn 1, and I could see all the way to turn six and saw some nasty crashes. What exactly happened to Alonso? I was watching him and suddenly I saw little pieces of aero stuff fly off of his car, and then he slid into the wall. Also heard Jense's gearbox blow on a nasty downshift. Anyway, many pics to come as I took hundreds, I will do my best to pic out the best pictures. Some nice pics from the pit walking as well.

Not bad for Zsolt. He did his job, stayed out of the way, and kept the car clean.

And Takuma, well, he's just proven what he can do if the car holds together. I'm not afraid to say that even if he's not a future champion, he's definitely an up and coming winner.

ah...poor button.

If both BARs could finish consistently, they could give Renault a run for their money.

Cheers to Toyota too!

Toyota was a huge surprise. Panis set the fourth (!) fastest lap of the race and was one of the 4 drivers (together with Sato and the Ferraris) to go under 1:11 in the race.

Not really that much of a surprise on a track such as Indy, good engine power is all that's needed.

He's actually not that little. Who is little, however, is Sato. Jense has at least a head on him, maybe a little less. Takuma is constantly balls to the wall all the time, which is the reason he was off so much in previous races. I think now he is finally harnessing his true potential. Will have to wait till friday for my pics since my digital camera is not with me for a couple days and the film from my other camera is being developed tomorrow.

I'm starting to think the reason Sato keeps a sploding his engine is because he's pushing the car a lot harder. It's a shame if it's the car that can't keep up.

We'll see.

Not really that much of a surprise on a track such as Indy, good engine power is all that's needed.

Sauber clocked the fastest straight line speed down the main straight , fisichella only clocked the 10th fastest time.

Give toyota some credit.

Yea except on the strait aways man he was flying @ indianapolis you could definetly tell his speed compared to schumis as far as the main strait goes.
