Yeah the driver side headlight is a little off. I got in a wreck last year on my driver side. Everything bolted up all nice on the passenger side, but was a little off on the driver side. After I noticed it was poking out, I pushed it in easily, but it wouldn't stay because the holes don't line up. I'm gonna drill a new hole to mount the top of the light and that'll fix it hopefully. Of course, we are talking about an aftermarket "oem design" bumper ;/

Nicely done. Plan to do the same to mine... once I get it running in the next coupla weeks. About what did you end up paying for it all? Gotta figure out how long till I get mine done, or if paint should come first.
Oh yeah, BTW props for remembering rule No.1 in my book, simple is sexy!

Did you do the conversion/bolt the parts on yourself? It sounded like you did...props if you did. I like the way it's all very dark...get some nice gunmetal or black wheels (without a silver lip) and it'll really look nice...just my 2 cents...anyways, good job there...other than the silver wheel lip, it flows well.

The headlights are 10x better than the 96-98's for starters.. but yeah I agree, not worth the money imo. However it's either a 99-00 conversion or another faggy body kit you could be looking at :)

How are they 10x better?

The 96-98 headlights were amber colored at the corner where the turn signal is at, whereas the 99-00's were totally clear with an amber colored bulb.

Did I mention that this conversion was basically free? I had enough money from selling my old parts to afford all the new ones (except the cf hood, which was in horrible condition on the old front end anyways). I'm also getting a killer deal on painting the car because I'm doing some of the labor along with a friend who works at a body shop. I wouldn't have done it if it was costly.

06-20-2004, 08:53 PM
So exactly how much did it all cost?
emerge
06-20-2004, 10:52 PM
Well I didn't buy OEM parts (except for the headlights). I bought aftermarket "oem design" parts. Here's a list of the prices:
Fenders - 60$ shipped (pair)
Headlights - 100$ shipped
Grill - 40$ shipped
Front bumper - 70$ shipped
CF Hood - 500$ shipped
But like I said, I only ended up paying for the hood in the end.

I'm not sure on the 6th gens, but if it's anything like putting a 5th gen 2 door hatchback front end on a 5th gen 4 door (aftermarket parts are easier to find for a 2 door), it's simply a matter of buying all the needed parts, as they pretty much bolt right back on and line up (as long as you buy all that's needed). Again, I know this is true for the 5th gens, but I am not use it holds true for the 6th gens, though I would think it would.

I think you have to drill into the radiator support (or you can replace it) in the conversion he did, and on the 5th gen one I spoke of you have to remove the front reinforcement bar or trim it back (like you have to with most body kits). Other than those things though, I believe the rest bolts on.
