weird air control

My air condtioning only seem to work under 2 circumtances.
1.) I have to turn it up to freeze or hell for it to kick out any air. General it only work when turned to the 3 level. 1 & 2 get hardly any response unless . . . which is 2.) I drive fast and have the air set to pull in out side air, not recycle.

I'm guessing that I may have a dirty air filter or air vent but i don't know where to look or if my soltion lies in some other mechanical issue.
Ideas? Suggestions?

Don't mind him...he's always pissed off.

For your problem with the two lower blower speeds you need a new blower motor resistor. As for the hot/cold control issue, I don't know what would be causing this. Sorry.
