Hey everybody, I need some advice. I am planing on buying a GMC 2500HD regular cab, 2WD, 3.73 rear end. I probabley wont tow much more than our car, but I like how high it sits. Does anybody out there have an HD as decribed, and what kind of gas miliage do you get? Is there anything I should know before I make the purchase?
Thanks,
Thanks,

I have the 03 Sierra 1500HD Crew Cab Model that is 4x4. It has the same engine, the 6.0 Litre V-8. I average about 14 hwy and 12 City. Funny thing is I average 14 hwy pulling a fully loaded trailer!! It runs great, pulls great, rides and drives great. But if you are worried about fuel mileage. Buy the half ton with the 4.8 or the 5.3 and have the dealer lift it some for you so you will be covered under warranty. Probably cost you a little less in the long run too

Thanks for your reply dlwdkh. I have read quite a few posts on MPG. And they all seem to be different. Some people might be streaching on how many MPG they get. Ive seen MPG from 9-17. Most posts give stats on a 4X4 with 4.10. I had hoped that someone would be able to give me a heads up on the 2WD w/ 3.73. (2500HD) I realize these trucks are hard to come by unless you special order them. I looked from Michigan to South Carolina and found only 3 regular cab 2WDs. And each of thoes were Base models. I am looking to get an SLE, and thats even harder. I am forced to wait untill I can order the 2005.

My truck has the 3.73 gears because it is the 1500HD. I got closer to 16 MPG during miles 3k to 8k. I have 14k on it now and consistantly get 14.4 MPG on the hwy. It gets just under 14 pulling a fully loaded trailer and six people in the cab. I stopped driving it back and forth to work when the gas reached 1.65 a gallon, but i drive it on the weekend and any other occasion other than the commute to work. I was on the lot last weekend here where I live (Central Arkansas) and I believe that they had a truck just what you were talking about. SLE two wheel, power, air, auto, something other than white and i am almost positive it was not white! They have lots of trucks. Just so you know my visit to the lot was to get my intrument panel replaced, it went out.

Any idea when 2005's can be ordered? I am not too worried about the gas miliage, I understand I am getting a 3/4 ton. I will never live more than 2 miles from where I work. By the way, have you ever checked the actual gas miliage other than what your information center tells you? I have heard the information center will/can give inaccurate readings.

My truck doesnt have the info center on it. So I just check it with the trip meter. 2005 should be on the lot by mid sept. June is typically the last month the current year is made. July starts the next year model, unless your talking Nissan! They just do what ever they want.
