Phone Suggestions

I bought a 2004 3.0i X5 this week. This is my first BMW. I'm so excited!

I am considering adding a phone. The dealer tells me that I cannot add Bluetooth because my truck has BMW Assist.

The second option I have (according to the dealer) is to install a phone kit. But, I don't want to have to get a second phone (Motorola V60) just to have a phone line in the car. I have a Kyocera Smartphone (phone/PDA in one). I don't want to give that up.

I had the opportunity to make my "initial call" to BMW assist and I fell in love with how clear the system works through the car's stereo!

My goal (however I can achieve it) is to have a phone system where the the voice of the other party comes through the speakers on the stero and I talk through the integrated microphone on the roof.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

Thanks in advance

jose

If you're electronically and mechanically inclined, bluetooth is still an option. I've seen some aftermarket adapters, but I don't recall seeing anything for a kyocera.

Thanks for the info. Can you direct me somewhere I can look into the aftermarket modules?
