we dont really have problems with people breaking into cars and stuff much around here, unless you leave your doors unlocked, but i go to walmart and everywhere and leave my windows down and have never had a problem.

Mine's been broken into about 7 or 8 times... I've completely lost track.
Last time someone broke into it, they tried to steal it, but they're idiots and couldn't even figure out how to pull my stereo either. But they did a good job of fucking up my ignition lock and the stereo too.

I park my car in the garage...never been touched once. My dads Explorer is outside everynight and hasn't been touched once. Not even egged or anything. Our neighborhood is pretty safe and not too much vandalism goes on.

Where i live, we don't really have many problems with stolen vehicles. The most serious thing that would happen is someone putting shaving cream under the door handles lol. But this place is getting bigger by the day, 3rd largest growing city in the country or something (ocala, FL), so i might hafta be more careful nowadayz.

havent had any problems since i moved in with my grand-mother, but in my old home with my dad, my car was broken into. they stole my fuzzy dice, a steering wheel cover, and my sub and amp, that i bought for $10 bux, left the radio, cd's, radar detector. oh well.

i'm tryin' to make it so no one could steal my car. When i go somewhere questionable where i feel someone might break into my car, i unplug my ecu and put it under the passenger seat or bring it with me. You can also unplug ur main relay or something that if you unplug they cant start the car. theyll never no why it doesn't start. The easiest thing to do is to take the little 10A fuse for the starter under the dash. If they manage to break into ur car and try to start it...they'll never succeed.

I've never had my car broken into... but I'm paranoid as hell about it! Especially since I usually have several thousand dollars worth of car audio equipment installed at any given time, and I'm known around town as having one of the best sound systems in town.
A friend of mine just had his broken into... they stole his sub, amp, cd player... and then for some reason, they slashed his seats and broke out all his windows.
I think when I get close to finishing off my car and get it back on the road on a regular basis, I'm going to be investing in these.

Can't you also install a switch somewhere hidden that you have to flip before you can start the car. I need to get a new alarm also...mine is 14 years old and doesnt work that great and the remote just broke a month or so ago.

Mine was stolen right outside my apartment window, heard the peel out but it was too late. They took my stereo with the center console, cd's sweatshirt and my battery, luckily that was it. Took a month to get it all back, but a week before I got it I broke my leg in 7 places and couldn't even drive for another month. Luckily it was still bone stock.

Havin my car jacked is one reason I thought twice about gettin a honda. Right now it looks like crap, so no body bothers with it... once It's all fixed up I dono what I'll do. Right before I got the car someone smashed out the passenger window, but I haven't had any problems sence.

i used to leave my doors unlock...so if someone wanted to break into it...they'd just open the door and not break anything...but whenever i get another civic and start investing into it....lo-jack will also be one of my investments

Around here, you could leave your car running by itself in the middle of the street for 10 minutes strait and it would NOT be stolen.. Unbelieveable I tell you... :o

I have a secret push button start. Its the clutch switch but i took it off the clutch and hooked it up under the dash. So I have to push that to start the car.

hmm one time my car was broken into they tried to hotwire it. But they must have been liek 14 years old because the cop said it was one of the worst jobs of trying to steal a car ever. Never found the person.
Another time the car was stolen they jacked the engine and dumped it at my school where i found it the next day, got the car back insurance paid for a new engie and radio, then they found the kids who did it, 1 or the 3 got sent to jail, then about 2 weeks later 3 of the windows were broken into.
No mind you i dont live in a bad neighborhood its quite good acutally, its just there is a group that causes all of the problems.
Well yeah it sucks!!

i'm thinking of getting a security system sometime soon, with keyless entry and all the other goodiez. You seen that one commercial where the guy has a car cover that makes it look like a piece of junk car? Someone needs to make a ton of those and sell em to us, they'd be rich :p
The best way you can protect your car, is to always carry around a storefront paper stand of mr. clean (lifesize of course) and put him by your car everytime you park somewhere. So people from a distance will see that huge white dude by your car n never touch it! Genius i tell you

Let's see, I drove my first CRX off the lot in 1990.
Summer, 1993: Broken into at pizza place in the LBC. CD player stolen. :(
Fall, 1995: Dent suddenly appeared overnight on the hood. :(
July, 1998: STOLEN... recoverd 4 days later and totalled by insurance company. Used insurance money to get modified CRX from 89. :)
Dec, 1998: Drunken assh0le slipped in his own puke outside a bar and took out frustration on my Honda. New fender, new passenger door. :(
Sept, 2000: Broken into outside my apartment. Stole stereo, boom box, amplifier, and scratched up my center console pretty good. :(
June 2003: Broken into outside work, took CD player. New CD player $99, New window $125 (why arent these guys stealing windows?) :(
Thats all I can remember right now. Car had functioning alarm system in it each time, lot of good it did.

damn all the stories ive read on this thread is crazy ... i my self have to take alot of precautions cuz im always chillin in brooklyn new york VERY GHETTO ... my boys out there have devised a very clever ghetto security system ... i took off my plastic steering wheel column and exposed the metal column under the brake pad that where the steering wheel connects with the bottom part of the column and thats where there is a little space where u can slip in a big ass lock but before u put it in u have to turn the steering wheel all the way to what ever side the side walk is after uve done that then slip in the lock and those bastards will never know why the steering wheel doesnt turn ... i also take out my ecu and i have a chain on my trunk that only lets me open half way and i have to stick my hand in and open with key ... those bastards will never steal my subwoofer

Got broken into last year at Univ of Houston but they did not take anything mysteriously. :0
3 Months later they broke into my car right outside my garage but I heard my alarm and I ran outside with a baseball bat. By the time I got to my car they had my radar and I saw this truck halling ass down my street. :banghead: Almost got those fools if I had not been stumbeling around in the dark man I think I would have blown out my own windshield man and messed those fools up. Then I would have mayde them pay for my window too! I HATE THIEVES!!!!
