Well my parents have a 1998 Ford Taurus SHO and the factory 6-disc changer it came with isnt working. I went to go take the slug out to put a new cd in and it did not come out, but it didn't play either. I stuck a needle down and got the changer out but if you put it back in it does not work and will not come out unless u manually do it again. Does anybody know what this could be, or will we have to surrender and go to the dealership and have them fix this. All answers are appreciated and as soon as possible because we're leaving town tomorrow and the drive will suck without a CD player...thank you.
Edit...The radio itself works, its just the changer that doesnt work.

Ya that thing needs some power. That is why it would not eject the sleve. Lay down in the trunk under, under the changer. See if the wires in the back are pluged in. If they are unplug them and use a flashlight to look at the terminals of the changer and wires for corrosion. Plug them back in if they are clean if not go to discount auto and get terminal cleaner. If that does not work then check your fuses if you have not already. The changer should have it's own fuse and that is why the radio works and it does not. Your owners manual will help you out with the fuses. - Spitzer

Well its like an on and off thing so I am guessing it is a wire or something. After letting it sit for a half hour last night I tried it again and now everything is working. I pulled the carpet back and made sure everything was plugged in and now its working so who knows.
