For the past month the car has been running hot, loosing water. Check engine light came on.
Had a hole in reserve tank, replaced. Replaced themostat. Still running hot. No water in oil so no head gasket leak.
Started chattering like valves or injectors where going haywire.
Now, it acts like it's starving for fuel, have to turn over for ever to crank. When cranked, run ragged, blue smoke and water coming out tail pipe. Normally idles at 1000 now it idles at 800.
Could it be the catalytic convertor all the time?
UPDATE: Blown head gasket. Water jacket side. I added, Sealup - Liquid glass. Engine leveled out. Quit overheating. RPM back to 1000 at idle. Starts easy. I know it's a quick fix but.......

What engine do you have and how many miles are on your car?
I have the exact same problem, though mine idled at 500. I've got a 3.0L w/ 121,000 miles. It's in the shop now and I'm waiting to hear what the exact cause is. They've already told me (after the compression test) that either my head gasket is blown, I've got a cracked head, or a cracked engine block. They also mentioned that it appears my oil pan gasket is messed up.
Expensive repair....
