96 eddie bauer- cd player trouble

Recently, my cd player reads "bad cd" when i try to play cds on the 6 disc cd changer. I went to the ford dealership and they wanted me to send it away for 300 dollars, and wouldnt tell me what was causing it. I am thinking if it is a problem with the actual 6 disc cd changer, i will just go to a junkyard and get one. Has anyone else experianced this? please respond.

This is gonna sound funny, but a long time ago in my explorer I had a problem like that, and it turned out what I had done was insert the cd cartridge upside down. LOL. I don't know how I did it, but that was the problem.

But if that is not the problem, it probably is the changer, its not gonna be the wiring because it still sends a signal. Good luck with it.
