Anyone else drive in D without OD. You'll notice the cars rpm's are up more then in OD, especially on the highway. But man is Drive so much more powerful-at least to me. What i've found out is this, using OverDrive in speeds UNDER 55mph(highway) makes the transmission work alittle hard, not much as to say it damage's it. And driving with Drive without OD OVER 55mph(highway) causes the ENGINE to work harder-due to the higher rpm's, and will eat gas more. Now, being that i like to use the air conditioning alot, in OD, it weakens the engine where it is noticeable, so i leave OD off, and my baby has great power-while using ac. Your probably thinking if all this really matters, well yeah, it does. Ok, so even with the ac off, and windows open i still drive my car in Drive, cause i swear it's got more readidly AVAILABLE punch at any speed. Try this, next time your in your t-bird(if you have od) drive it up to 30mph, cruise at that speed, then slightly punch the gas to reach say 60. Now try it with OD off, i sure notice more punch with the OD off. As far as highway driving, if you wanna save as much gas as you can, leave the OD on at all times cause this keeps the rpm range down and you burn less gas. But if you wanna hear that V8 small block growl as your cruising at 60mph, take the OD off. Just be prepared to open your wallet at the gas station a little more then normally.

Don't take this personally, I am not trying to flame you. But, does your brain know what your fingers are typing?
Ofcourse the car will feel more underpowered in OD than in D. It's Supposed to feel that way because of the transmission gearing. And ofcourse the engine will rev higher/have more power at the same speed in D as in OD. Once again, its all about gears.
I wonder what the next thread will be?
"Car moves is you put it in any gears past N" ???
Christ on a cracker.
I'm not a know it all, but I sure do recognize stupidity.

Oh, im lightened up.
What I don't get is your asking stupid questions one day, and then "telling people" about something that anyone with a driver's license should know.
