Is it cool, or does it suck?

Neither really... for the most part it's the same. The funnest part is banning some jagg-off, but it gets real old real fast when they keep re-registering...
Then there's a bunch of clean-up work to do, that hopefully you guys never notice.

The best part of being a mod is not having to sit around and wonder what goes on restricted access forums, like the Mods Corner (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/f684/) :D Besides that, we have some degree of obligation to check around in our assigned forums and take care of business, where as regular members do not. But all in all, I'd say the positives outweigh the negatives.

No, no, you really don't!!!! ;) j/k
Being a mod isn't a piece of cake. Instead of just casually cruising about and posting randomly, you have to read basically every post ever made, make sure that no one is out of line, you check other forums to make sure everything is fine there, you contact individual members when there IS a problem, you try to be friendly but stern at the same time, I personally try to be available as often as possible so that members can easily find me if they have questions. You find links for people, you greet newcomers, you check in with other mods to see what they are up to, you keep your forum clean (again), you contact some more members.
Then you can have some fun and ban some evil spammers who are no good. But then it gets old when they reregister a million times
Sure, I'm glad I did get my "modhood" but it is even more work than I expected. And a lot of it I bring upon myself in being so open with the members, but it's all in a day's work :flash:

Looking at each thread to see if they use offensive language etc is not fun. Especially dealing with people that wouldn't listen.

What it means to be a mod?? Just take a look around you at all the closed threads this morning. I’d say what it takes to be a mod is to be a Hitler! I’m with Razor on this one.

Being a mod isnt all that great. Especially when you are the minority, not the majority.
