Which of these two cars has the best all around performance? Which would win in a 1/4 mile race, a race from the roll, and on a race track?

I'm afraid the evo would spank the s2000 in all the above. The s2000 might have a chance on a freeway run but that is about it

while S2000's are a blast to throw around and drive, i would say the evo is a better all around performer. the S2000 is right at home on an oval track, or on a road course, but certainly not on the drag strip. plus you can't do what you can in an evo in wet weather. haha.
1/4 mile.........evo
race from a roll.......evo
race track.......what kind? oval........S2000, road course..........it'd be pretty close i think but still the evo IMO, world rally championship course ...........uh, let me think about that one for a minute haha.

sigh.... as much as i like the s2000 more than the evo.... on a drag strip it would be destroyed by one.... AWD launch.... plus its torque is higher than the s2000. so theres my pick. evo

I really wish the S2000 had more guts to it. Its a sharp looking car, but its to much of a dog for the price.

Its funny how everybody keeps bringing up the AWD launch.Sure it's scary fast, but not like you can do it constantly without having to replaced your whole transmission.I remember reading of a sponsered group who were draggin an Evo.They went through 4 trans during the first few months.Sure AWD launching is fast, but very very dangerous to a car you have to drive everyday.

put the right clutch in, and you've got no problems.
no one said you need to redline launch the awd alllll the time.
the point is that you can, and it's sick.
even a regular launch with awd will pwn the s2000.

yeah, hard launches in awd cars with the right amount of power is like very very few other cars i've experienced before. i hard launched my bro's sti and man, that thing puts you in your seat. smells like crazy burnt clutch afterwards but talk about grip.
