Brake light help!!!

I need help. My brake lights don't come on if I just tap the brake pedal, and I really have to jam the pedal down before they will come on. Is there some sort of switch that controls the brake lights coming on when you depress the brake pedal? I have a 97 v6 accord. Sorry for my ignorance. Thanks.

check the clearance on the brake pedal to the brake light switch. if clearance is ok...then it may be that the brake light switch is just bad. pretty cheap and easy to replace.
