ok yea. i heard from a couple friends dat are mechanics and they said that in time water finds a way into the engine of the supra. i was wondering if anyone knew any info on this stuff or like any way to prevent it from happening or something. because when i bought my supra the engine was messed up because water leaked inside. so id like to find out some info on it in order to prevent it or something... Also if anyone can tell me which is better the 7m-gte or the 1jz-a70(or something like that) i dunno much on cars ya know. new supra owner here and yea id jus like a heads up on stuff thank ya.

ok i'm assuming your mechanic friends are talking about the head gasket corroding over time therefore it starts to blow between cylinders etc...
you say you have already fixed it once or it was messed up and now it's not so i'm assuming you've repaired it
usually the engine that suffers blown head gaskets is the 7mgte due to poor torque settings or the reuse of old head bolts...the way to prevent this is to either buy a metal head gasket or factory one, make sure the torque on the head is 75-85 ft pounds of torque, get new head bolts or arp head studs and send your head off to the reconditioners to make sure it isn't warped
this is just a quick summary but if you do all this right you shouldn't have a problem
now the 7mgte ma70/1jzgte jza70 debate i love these lol
now i love the 7mgte and the only problem i've ever found is the head gasket but once you do it right you should be home free, power is 230/232hp @ the engine stock
stock block i think can handle 500hp without having to mod internals
they are a good motor and you can get some serious power from them
now admittedly the 1jz comes out with 50bhp more than the 7m and has factory reinforced pistons so the blocks can handle a bit more thrashing... they don't have lag like a 7m and you can easily get 550bhp without modifying internals
neither of them are really better... it's basically just preferance of twin turbo or single turbo, cc's or 500 less cc's, instant boost or wicked boost a few seconds later lol
i believe that parts for the 7m are more readily available like second hand parts but performance parts from the likes of hks etc are a little more difficult to source for the 7m whereas the 1jz you can get quite a lot as the mother motor is the 2jz basically identical
so yea it's all in choice... they both have amazing potential :)
anyone else ;)
