Hey, I was wondering about doing the stage 1 upgrade(http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/2gturbo/stage1power.php) to my car when I get it. The thing is I'm worried :uhoh: about my 0-60 time because I was always hoping I would get a car in the low 5's high 4's but since my car will be using a turbo it will take some time to kick in & won't really help out the begining acceleration at much right? Can anyone give me an estimate on what my 0-60 time might be with the stage 1 and if you could post some of your 0-60 times if you have any.

Unless you are Car and Driver, there is really no way to measure those times. Gtech may do it, but very few people have it. 60 foot times are given at the track, though. Even though our cars are turbo, it doesn't much affect our speed off the line. We can still spin 4 tires (AWD models) off the line, and some members here spin 4 THROUGH 1st gear, and run ~1.5 sec 60' A decent FWD 60' time is like ~2.2 seconds, so you can see how we are still capable. Building some boost off the line can be done by revving correctly before launch, and building A LOT of boost off the line (or on big turbos) can be done with the right equipment.

When you say "building allot of boost off the line can be done with the right equipment" do you mean a turbo-timer? & since you own a dsm is the acceleration pretty fast from the driver seat :iceslolan

Yeah Gtech isent that the little computer that you can buy that hooks up to your car. It mesures lateral Gs, accleration Gs, your speed, the distance all that great stuff?
So it can tell you your 0 to 60 time, 1/4 mile time and all that other neat stuff.
Or you can just count untill you get to 60 but that can be alittle off.
Ive heard of people using n2o in their exaust manifold to spool up the turbo before launch. Witch is probly one of the right equitment things he was talking about.
But i think alittle bit of turbo lag off the line is good, it alows your tires to hook up before it kicks in.

You could always have someone sit in the passenger seat with a stopwatch and have them watch your speedometer =D I don't think that'd be the most accurate way, but it would be fairly close, I would think.

the best way i've found to get 0-60 is to use a stopwatch and make several runs. this is a little dangerous and requires looking at the speedo and clicking the stop button at 60. i usually figure about a tenth of a second in for reaction time and take that off the time on the stopwatch. my numbers are always too high for my tastes, though (what can i really expect from an auto v6 mustang though?)

I have never heard of using a gas to spool the turbo before launch, but I was referring to a stutter-box (also called different things). It's a rev limiter that only is active when the clutch is in. You'll notice some fast/race cars bounce off the rev limiter before launch... that's not the regular rev limiter (if any), it's a stutter box.

Mount a digital camera to record your speedo on several runs, upload to your PC. Then if your PC has video editing software (most include a running time while the video is played down to the 1/100th of a sec), note the time the car starts to launch and the 60 mark and subtract. Now all this depends on the accuracy of your speedometer but I still think it's more accurate than a stopwatch (especially if you have a 200 pound friend riding shotgun doing the clicking).

^^^ Very nice idea you could also count the frames

Damn JRichter, that digi cam idea is creative. Nice. I would never have thought of that. G-Tech Pro is only $50 on ebay by the way. And *supposedly* it's more accurate (trap speed I think) than the actual track. This might just be crap, I don't know. One of the Accelerometer home pages said that. By the way does anyone know if you can mount it anywhere else other than your windshield like in the other din under reciever?
