Ok, quick question, who would win on average* u think, a slightly modded eclipse gst or a h22 prelude with t3/t4 turbo??

True, But he also didn't say what "slightly modified" is referring to.

$5 on the Prelude.
I mean, VTEC AND TURBO, his car must change from a lowly 4-cylinder to a mighty v-8 at 5500 rpms... :evillol:

$15 on the dsm flows enough cfm at 4k to be in the same call with a v-8 hehe..

ill go with the DSM, vtec and turbo is a good mix only if the psi is right... too much boost = boom... too little boost= might as well be a stock motor

I beg to differ: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=146754
There's a "mildly-modded" GS-T for ya...;)
I highly-doubt if I'll be ahead of, or even hang, with a Turbo H-22. Granted, Armando has a Spyder, which is heavier, but look at his mods, compared to mine.

if a slightly modded dsm is making 250-300 whp, thats just dandy. But you didnt even look at the hp #'s on a turbo-d h22. Check out this (http://www.tunedbylorange.com/shopcar.html) -240 whp on a h22 running 7-8psi daily driver. 314whp @12psi. Stock internals.

that's why this should be in the car comparisons forum.
or just ask what those cars (each one, not both) are running in their respective forums.
turbo h22 needs very careful tuning.

is it true that its incredibly hard to run a turbo h22 bc i heard the high compression ratios make it hard to boost which makes the car dangerous.

turboing Honda's is risky business, can be both highly rewarding and disastrous..
The eclipse will definitly be easier to muck around with [turbo-wise]..

risky as in I just need a really good mechanic to install one, or risky as in it can blow at any second when im running??? b/c im deciding on a t3/t4 hybrid right now.

hmm well like any idea you have to research as much as possible before potentially wasting any money or ruining anything. I would definitely advise getting it turbo'd at a shop/mechanic due to the compression ratios needed to be reached when doing so. Another factor is the strenghtening of the internals so they can withstand the boost.
If installed properly it will not make the engine blow, etc but it WILL make it have a shorter life than through the n/a route.
Check the honda forums for some real advice, im just going off the top of my head here.

Carrrnuttt, not only was that gs-t a spyder, but we also don't know what year eclipse Kang is talking about. The 1gs are considerably faster, owning to the facts that they are considerably lighter, and also have better turbos that can withstand more boost (14g vs. t25, I think). The car you raced was a 2g. I'd say, if this was a semi-mildly modded car like the one you raced, that the prelude would beat a 2g, but be even or lose to a 1g.
And if you want to turbo the h22, Kang, go for it, just don't get boost crazy and get a professional install. And be sure to use 91 octane. :D

:wtf:
no way you can get 70 hp from raising 4psi of boost.. if that were true, when i raised the boost in my car i shoulda got like 400whp...

dont talk to me about it, why dont you contact the shop?
And yeah, h22's do take quite a bit of tuning (that particular one was running aem ems) but the results are rewarding.

LOL I already know the outcome of this one. I raced a lude with a h22 and a t3/t04 turbo. And in 3rd gear I got PASSED like I standing still. I even pulled over the driver and took a looker. We was running 8psi and me 16 psi. He had a time slip from speedworld with a 13.4 1/4 mile with a 2.4 60 FOOT at 112 mph. I think for a gst to beat a h22 lude with a t3/t04 at 8psi is gunna take a 1g with the 14b all bolt ons and weight reduction to win or a 2g with a big 16g 16 psi all bolt ons NO LESS!!!! and im not even SLIGHTLY trying to exagerate..!

haha you are kidding right?? my moms 300M has a better 60ft than that. someone doesnt know how to launch a turbo :D
13.4 in the 1/4mile isnt that special if you think about how much money this guy dumped into his prelude. if i put 2500$ + into a stock TSiAWD... it will damn sure run faster than only 1 second over stock :D

What the hell are you talking about 1 sec faster then stock? An h22a stock in a prelude will run no faster then a high 15 sec quarter mile.By putting the 2500$ in for turbo he's runnin mid 13's....dude thats very fukkin respectable.I give him mad props with only 2500$ in.Remeber, after you hit that 13 sec in the 1/4 it takes more and more money to run lower times.

Didnt I end this arguement? Lude hands down. No matter what turbo a 2g has(small 16g or lower), a lude and t3/t04 spells CAPITAL WIN hands down. I love my dsm dont get me wrong but I doubt id win without a 16g or a dsm link and some MAJOR tuning. Its not even close. A gst shouldent even get bolt ons before a new turbo is bought in my opinion. And this is comming from a dsm owner sence 97 on the same spyder sence mile 1.

hmm...
it's not just who installs the turbo kit, it's who tunes it. for the h22.
vtec ludes were low 15's.
4th gen 93-96 vtec ludes were able to hit high 14's with minor mods.
314hp equalling a 70hp boost w/only a 4psi increase.
why is that hard to believe?
do you know the tune of the engine between the two runs?
no.
do you know if they were running race gas?
no.
think about it before you start spouting off...
