Body repair places will run 3500-5000+ depending on if you are matching the color your car already is. If you change it, they also have to paint (besides the body panels) the underside of the hood, under the hatch, inside of the doors and door trim, the headlights would need to change (especially the second gens).

It probly depends on your area, here a good paint job runs $1500-$3000, same color paint job would be less than $1500. To get a body kit installed and painted professionally runs around $800. To get any single dent or scratch fixed and painted is $100-150. Thats just at local shops. (NY)

Wow. If I ever need to get my car painted, I'll take the car to NY then. Its expensive as heck around here.

Oh yes, here it is exactly like that, "how good of a job you want done". To change color and do a little body work for my 'tiny' Del Sol was going to be around $4000-$5500 at one place and at another it was only going to be $1000-$2500. Also for changing color, it all depends on what color and kind of paint you want too. Of course it hasn't been done yet...

I think that's still under the "changing color" department because you're still well....changing the color of the car. :o/ A buddy of mine had his car painted from red to performance red and it costed him about 3 grand...and that was with a hook up.

I'm going to try to repair a few chips in the clear top coat on my hood but the autozone near me was no help, do I just need to re-cover the chipped area with the clear stuff or is there more to it?

What about just painting the bumper or a single piece of the car? I have heard both ways - that nowadays people can match the paint perfectly, or that no it's still not perfect. Anyone know? There are a bunch of chips in my bumper that I need to get fixed.

haaj, if I'm not mistaken, they should be able to match the paint perfectly. If not, that's some crappy body shop and you should just go elsewhere.

They should be able to paint match it, the only problem is if your car has faded from the sun or anything like that.

How would I know if it's faded? Basically what I'm hearing is that they try to match the original color, not what the color is now?

My 3 diamond Mitsubishi emblem has faded alot, think I should buy another one? Chrome maybe? And yea it would make sense to restore the origional color because thats the looks better than some faded pinkish color (that is if the origional color was red).

It depends on the color - if your car is pearl it will cost a lot more... I have a pearl white 3000 GT, and I was quoted $3000 (dependable shop.)

yeah i got a pearl white car also they originally painted the bumper and it didnt match due to the fade, so then i just had to get the whole car painted for 3,500 bucks.
