Really High PSI??

I heard if you put some suzuki grand vitra (check spelling) pistons in the d series engine you can get really low compression and is really good for boosting. I heard of a boosted D16z6 at 16 PSI safely just wondering if that is true, and the pistons are only about $130 with rings... :naughty:

Yep, the vitara pistons will take your motor down to 8.5:1 compression. You're going to want to look into some better rods though.

yeah i was looking into some eagle rods i was on honda tech and they where selling a package for like $200.. and they said it was safe up to 25PSI.

for 200 dollars i have a hard time believeing in those rods. and to run 25 psi you need a hell of a lot more than pistons and rods buddy

PSI is irrelivent . . . . because 16pi on a 14b turbo is not the same as 16psi on a t3/t4 turbo. What you need to do is find out how much power they can handle. Usually it's the rods that break though not the pistons . . . usually rods or ring lands.

Anyone knows the compression ratio for a F22B1 (1994 Accord sohc VTEC)??
If I was to boost the engine, which I am, should I lower the compression or is it fine with the stock setup on it??

8.8:1 is your compression for that motor . . . if you want to beef up the internals when you do get rods and pistons raise the compression to the mid 9's as you will get more hp per pound of boost you run. Right now you are running really low compression which is good, but you don't gain as much power per pound of boost so you're kinda starving yourself of power.

Really?? Wow... I never expected my ratio to be that low. Well, in that case, hell fawkkin yeah I want pistons and rods to raise my compression to somewhere in the 9's. Give me a few idea of sites online here where I may be able to find myself some toys! Let me know what else you suggest me to get. Oh- and give me an idea if say I up my compression to where you suggested, per pounds of boost, how much power on average will I get? Say I'm shooting for anywhere in the 7-9 PSI... what is my expected power gain?? HP's? TORQUE's??

Someone correct me if I am wrong but don't you want low comp if you are going FI? BTW monee, no one on AF worth his sh*t would call replacing the rods and pistons "getting new toys." Its pretty serious crap to do all of that motor work to your car and not something to be taken lightly.....

In the short run higher comp is good. But in the long run having lower comp in order to run higher psi will yield more horsepower.

if you lower your compression you will be able to run more boost and that will actually raise your compression ratio at mid to high rpm higher than it would be if you ran higher compression. this is good especially if you dont have a limited slip diff and you do have say a lightened flywheel and high performance clutch or some head work. if you have lower compression it will equal traction.
