My friend is looking for a turbo for his '87 gti. Now i'm not sure wether it is an 8v or 16 but all i am lookin for right now is

A. Is there a turbo out there for the 8v and/or the 16v (whichever he has, i'll have to ask)

B. How much would it cost (approx.)

C. What would be the gain to putting it on his car (40hp maybe?)

thanks for the help

there are about 20(give or take 5) turbo kits out there for 8v 2.0's...ATP and matrix's kits are the best...price range can be 2500-4000 depending on turbo size and if he wants an intercooler with premade pipes. If he runs a fair amount of boost, he can prolly get about 50horse...
My buddy has a 2.0t in his mk3 jetta and he and I were dead even from a dead stop to about 90 where I started to pull...but he has all new internals and was running 14 pounds non-intercooled...assumed 160 to the wheels cause I put out 171 at the dyno and his is lighter so it kinda works out

I don't know how much you want to fabricate, but an audi 5 cyl has a very nice turbo setup. you can rob EVERYTHING at your local yard. I got the whole works for around 50 bucks at our u-pull-it. Lot of fab work to get it going though. I think we had around 250 in everything after the pipes and boots and such.
