Squirrel cage is a design of fan. Not automotive related.

and FYI- NO electric fan/blower/turbo/supercharger is going to do what it says. If those cheap $20 electric fans worked as well as a $700 turbocharger, everyone would be running them.

Well what if perhaps a squerrl cage blower like that was mechanically driven fast enough how would it preform if it was designed to produce pressure, but still hold the same shape.

bad answer. to drive it hard enough to produce any real pressure, it would fly apart. there are reasons that turbos and blowers are designed the way they are. a fan as you are suggesting, is a non positive displacement unit. seal it off, and it continues to turn without producing anything. roots blowers are positive displacement, and produce a certain number of cfm per revolution. Turbos are variable displacement, in that they can produce varying cfm in relation to engine speed, relying on exhaust gas expansion to increase the speed, and therefore volume and pressure.

Some info on one model of 'electronic turbo':

Basically, the fan can't spin fast enough to flow enough air to aid engine performance.

Same idea as what I posted in the article above. It's a scam to prey on people who don't know about cars.
If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
