I've heard from so many diff. ways that neons are illegal or legal...Never had a final answer...I hear as long as they're not red or blue...But then u get pulled over if they're white, orange, pink, green, purple...What's the deal?:banghead:

most states if they are legal....you can only have them on when your parked....as long as their not blue or red :). i know from experience cause a state trooper pulled me over for a blue neon that was inside my truck. bastard.

in most states neons are illegal but they are ways to get around the law... just look up the law on the net.. if they are not illegal in some states there are some stipulation to certain colors. like RED WHITE AND BLUE are deemed emergency colors.. When I am in Iowa the cop dude told me that it depends on how a patrol person feels. he said if the bulbs arent shown at any angle then you can get away from it but they are not going to chase you down for some lights.. the ticket in Iowa is just 25 dollars.. Good luck i still drive with mine own.. I have 2 sets.. Blue on my 96 explorer and green on my 91 explorer.

Yeah it says here in Oklahoma that red and blue are illegal, but most of my friends have been pulled over for orange, white, and green...It says in the book, that if the cop feels like it he can pull you over if he wants...How stupid is that? If he feels like it? I mean if they're legal how can u get a ticket? I've been wanting to put some blacklights under mine, and of course the bulbs won't be showing cuz I have ground effects on my car.........I sure don't see a problem!

wow, 25 bucks thats it? my ticket was 135. the cop gave me a ticket for impersonating an officer because the light was blue. my damn light was inside my truck!! but here in wisconsin neons are legal as long as your parked.

A cop told me that in IL neons are illegal on the street, but if you're in a parking lot you can have any color you want.

Colored lights are restricted or prohibited in most cases. Blue lights are allowed on emergency vehicles, such as law enforcement vehicles, ambulances and fire vehicles. They are also allowed on snow removal and road maintenance vehicles operated by or under contract to state or political subdivisions. The exception to this rule is that a blue light, no larger than one-inch in diameter, may be displayed as part of a motorcycle’s rear brake light. The same applies for automobiles if they are collector vehicles as described by state statute or eligible to display collector license plates. The color and position of lights is controlled by statute. Vehicles may display only white and amber lights to the front. Vehicles may display only amber or red lights to the rear. Vehicles may display no more than two side cowl or fender lamps which shall emit a white light without glare. Vehicles may also display one running board courtesy lamp which shall emit a white or yellow light without glare.
Most other colored lights and locations of lights are prohibited by statute. The laws regarding vehicle lighting allows such things as delivery vehicle illuminated signage, elevated snow plow lights, backup lights and warning lamps on certain vehicles.
I think this is pretty much a rule of thumb anywhere you go.. I donl think they can do anything if you arent driving though..

well.. they almost did that to my friend. he was driving a maxima next to my camaro, and the cops were in a black tinted crown vic. when they turned their siren on, i thought it was for me at first, but then they pulled him over. they were about to give him tickets for having blue sidemarkers, and tints at $90 a window! but then, an acura tl flew by and they let my friend go, and went after the acura. i didnt think they could do that, but they did. my other friend got pulled over for running a red light (yellow), and the cop said the same shit, if he wants to fight the ticket he said he'll bring up that he has illegal tints too (30% or less in NY)... thats fucked up, considering all the times i got pulled over for much worse shit, like burnin out, fast turns, doin donuts in empty parking lots, goin 110mph in a 45 zone, driving my friend's 84 z28 w/out license/insurance/plates/registration, and racing with him at that... considering all that... they went easy on me... *knocks on wood* i think they just dont like imports, since all of my friends that get pulled over drive em.

110 in a 45?! whatd you get out of that?!
and how about the no license.. .cuz thats what ill be doin if mines gone... I jus heard back from the lawyer today that she got the discovery back from the prosecutor and it had no notes. I assumed this would be a good thing but she said it doesnt hurt or help (?!?...) im not trustin her too much she asked me nearly nothing about my case... i wanted to take shit into my own hands a bit but my parents wont let me order any books online, they say im better off w/o them and just relying on the lawyer tho... fuck im worried. She hasnt evcen really asked me any questions about my case. She said shes gonna have her secretary call the court tomorrow and get a new date for sometime next week... such short time. I'm actually gettin really scared about this...

actually i had a license, but my friend didn't and it was his car that was w/out plates, insurance or any of that. the 110 in a 45 zone is a long stretch of road towards jones beach, where everyone goes like 80-90... they wrote it as 80 in a 45 zone cuz i slowed down and they caught up to me at 80. a lawyer around here cost about $100 to get a ticket like that dismissed. i dont know about the no license thing tho, they let my friend go all the times he got pulled over with a permit, but they're not always that nice.

what did u get pulled over for with no license? checkpoint? anyway, the worst that can happen is they'll suspend ur license until ur 21(or not let u get one), but thats if u did something serious. my friend got pulled over with stolen plates twice, and none of those times the cops seemed to care about it, what they did care about though, was when they found brass knuckles under his seat.. he got 7 days community service for that.

Nah i still ahve my license... go to court soon tho. They got me on Rt 4 (you mentioned jones beach so maybe you know NJ a little?) by the junction with rt 17, i didnt see th cop cuz i was passing a van, i was doin around 95 he clocked me at 88 and so my ticket is 88 in a 50 (also bs cuz i didnt realize it was a 50, may be stupidity, but whatever). It was a county cop too, and he tacked on "careless driving" and "failure to keep to the right on a highway"

i dont think the cop that pulled me over realized what the speed limit was himself... he wrote 80 in a 55 zone when it was really a 45... i didnt complain. stupid park police had to call up like 3 more units just to write me the damn ticket. i havent went over 80 since though. its not worth the trouble. i need to find a race track or somethin... :sly:

I def. agree with the track part. And the not over 80 part... too lat etho...
