can't see .wmv's

okay, when I try to play video files with the .wmv label, i can't see them! all i see in my windows media player, or realplayer is a gray screen. i get the audio just fine, but I can't see any video. :crying: if i'm lucky enough to get some video, i get 1 frame every 30 seconds. what the hell is wrong with my computer???? do i need to download a new codec or something? HELP! :banghead:

I've had this happen before.. Delete WMP and download a new one.. That fixed my problem.

how do u delete it? and how do u download a new one?

to delete WMP go to Control Panel, and click on "Add or Remove Programs" It will be in the list

But that won't solve your problem. You're better off searching google, or yahoo for this:
"Codec for .WMV" without the quotes (duh).
And updating your Media Player to the latest one. I think number 9 is the latest, but I could be wrong.
Download, and install the new one, right over the top of the last one. Uninstalling it will only solve issues with the program, such as clashes, error's, Illegal Op's, and if it's corrupted. And sometimes it won't let you uninstall it's so f'ked up. Which sucks.
