Heater core leak

I believe I have a heater core leak in my 2000 2dr Blazer. With the heat on I smell an antifreeze burning smell like syrup, also when I accellerate I can hear air and water gurgling behind the Passenger dash, sounds like it may be sucking in Air.

Does anyone have any thoughts about the Bars leaks to stop the leak as an alternative to changing the heater core out?

really not sure, i am going to post shortly intermittant leak (dexcool) but i did email today prestone asking if their stop leaks, addditives and flushes were dexcool compatable ??? they said yes no problems

Thanks, I thought the manufacture you be behind it, I just wondered if anyone else has tried it. I dont forsee any problems.

the part costs 20 bucks but takes about 2-3 hours to replace
i had the same problem in my 91 s10 blazer bout 2 months

I changed the heater core in my 1995 Blazer. It is quite a job! You have to unbolt the steering column and pivot the dash down to access the heater core. Lots of work!!!!! I don't care for the Haynes Repair Manual, but it gave me a lot of instructions and good tips for this job.

Be careful during your reassembly not to pinch any of the colored vacuum lines. They control the flaps that direct your heated and air conditioned air. If they are pinched you, won't get the air to come out the vents as you want them to. Good Luck!
