I posted this in the 88-91 civic/crx forum, but wanted to share it with the COT folks as well:
Well, I've come to the conclusion that I will never actually finish this project, even though there's only a little over a minute to actually film/edit, but I wanted to share it with you guys (and gals) anyways. I worked pretty hard on it, and hope you like it...
Hopefully, my bandwidth won't get jacked by comcast, if it does, maybe someone can host the vid for me? It's a hair over 21 Mb, so 56k beware. Worth the wait though.
Well, here it is, enjoy (DivX format).
D R I 5 E (http://home.comcast.net/~ci5ic1990/dri5e.avi)
Would love some feedback on it, also, don't forget to stick around for the ending (there's a chunk of video missing in the middle).
A little about the film:
Filmed using a Fuji Finepix 3800 Digital Camera (takes 1 minute avi clips).
Edited using Adobe Premier 6.0
Encoded using Dr. DivX
I built about 7 different camera mounts out of wood, plastic, and aluminum for the car to get the shots I wanted.
I had a few friends help getting the camera shots (they're pretty obvious which ones).
Yes, some of the clips are sped up. That's not to make my car look faster than it is. It was so that the duration of the clips matched up with the soundtrack better.
The song is Aenima by Tool.
Filmed in and around Spokane, WA.

Great job on the video the shots were done really well and it looks as if a lot of work was put into it. The choice in music was awesome! Love the goatee.

Actually, check the second to last shot... that's my stunt-double Shawn. He just happened to have a shaved head and I wanted to work the camera, so he put on my sweatshirt and sunglasses LOL.

Go to www.divx.com and download the codec. It'll work with Windows Media Player... you don't need a specific DivX player.
Thanks for the kudos y'all.

Download the codec for it here:
http://download.divx.com/divx/DivXPro511Adware.exe
Or, download a stand-alone DivX player:

incredible work! thanks for the technical help there bud. you can tell you put some work into this. i love the sound effects added in. i had a smile on my face the whole time i watched it.
when it was in fast forward i was scared for a sec, especially when you were coming up to the redlight. i thought you were going to rearend the car ahead of you.
the end was my fav when the camera pointed to the sky. you did a great job mike, just make sure you post the completed version in OT.
i had the bald head and goat for awhile, but it got annoying shaving my entire head. you can pull off the look though. thanks for sharing.

Thanks!
This is the first time I've done anything like this, and it really illustrates how time-consuming the process of making a film is. You really have to pay attention to the tiniest details, and if you don't get the shot you were going for, you have to go out and re-shoot it... Which sucked for me, because all of the clips in the movie were shot on my digital camera with a 16MB XD memory card... so, it would only hold three 1minute clips at a time. I'd go out and shoot 3 clips (sometimes just different takes of the same clip), run home and download them to the PC and review what I'd gotten (the LCD screen on the camera too crappy to get a good idea sometimes), and hopefully the shots I got would work. Otherwise, I'd have to go back out and shoot some more and come back and do it all over again. I had 4 friends help me at various times, and they were remarkably patient with me LOL.
The time-lapse at the end was done 100% manually. I sat on that cliff for 2 and a half hours taking a still image once every few minutes (would've taken more, but the XD card would only hold 210 images at the lowest resolution setting). Once I got all those pics, I had to download them to the PC, and then one by one place them into the editor timeline and adjust them so that they were each one frame long... That took about 1.5 hours alone. It wasn't until just recently that I found a function in Adobe Premier that allows you to import a sequence of images and automatically do that for you in the span of a few seconds. So, now I've got a 256MB XD card, so I'm thinking I might re-do the time-lapse which would make it alot smoother. Only thing I'm worried about is the camera batteries running out and I won't be able to replace them because I'd have to move the camera, so the whole thing would be ruined...
Blah... I'm bored.

i had no idea. as my previous posts earlier show that i am not completely computer literate, i still know this type of work takes time (as with any well put together project). holy cow, i would like to know what kind of sex you were having to stay there on a cliff for 2.5 hours!

none LOL.
It was fun though, but after about an hour and a half, I had to pee really bad, but I couldn't leave the camera there, and I couldn't move it, so I just had to pee off the cliff LOL.
I definitely got some strange looks around town though because I'd be driving around with a big piece of wood or aluminum sticking out of the car and a camera bolted to the end of it, and I'd pull over, jump out, run around to the camera, hit the record button, then run back, jump in and haul ass...
