Noise when blower motor is on

I have a 96 Transport, when I put the fan on it makes a whineing noise. When the blower motor finally went I left it out for a few days while I waited for the new one from the parts dealer. I turned on the fan as if it was still there and guess what, the whineing noise is there and no blower motor in sight.
Any ideas on what is going on? :icon16:
