When i bought my 96, the radio was the same way, but i put a new cd player in it, i think its just the screen wearing out because its getting old. Id say either get a new cd player, or you can find a used stock one on ebay for pretty cheap. With the window problem, it may be the motor wearing out. Or not getting enough power. Im not sure about the a/c. Alls i know is my cars a/c sucks and needs to be recharged. Hope that may help.

On the radio display problem, it may be your DRL system is having troubles determining if its day or night. it will automaticly dim (and reg headlights will come on) if it thinks its dark. There is a sensor somewhere on top of dash that may be blocked or something. The window trouble may be due to things overheating (because its working so hard (slow)) and circut may be protected by thermal thing thats shuts it down until its cooled off

i have a problem with my power window. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't, it would go down 1/2 way, then stop.. etc. I replaced the motor, and it has been fine ever since. But, it can also be the switch itself.

Yea, your pwer window is dieing, you can go to a junkyard and pick up a new window motor for it for farely cheap, you can install it your self or have it professionally installed. Sorry my english spelling sucks

Is your radio a Monsoon radio? I have a 2000 Grand AM SE that had the same problem... the display could only be seen if the sun was shining directly on it. I removed the Monsoon one and replaced it with an after-market stereo last year, so I decided to take the old one apart and see what was wrong with it. Turns out there's a little light bulb that sits behind the display that lights it up. Mine had burned out. I checked online, and you can get these bulbs for something like 50 cents in the US (wholesale only though)!! When I had taken my car to a GM Dealership, they said they'd have to replace the WHOLE stereo for $600 (Canadian)!!! What a crock of sh*t!!! :banghead:

If you have the money though, I'd recommend replacing the stereo with a decent after-market one. My Monsoon was the top of the line model with the 7 (or 9?) band EQ. It sounded alright... until I got a new $350 JVC deck. Holy moley... I'm hearing stuff in my music that I've never heard before. The Monsoon decks seem to have trouble putting out certain frequency ranges. :screwy:

As for your A/C switch. I had the same problem a few months ago, and replaced the blower resistor. Fixed the problem up. Really cheap ($20 CDN) part.. the only tricky part is doing the work. It's simple work, but the screws are in such an akward position that it took me about an hour to contort my body into fitting below the glove box and getting my fingers into the area. Do a search on this forum and you'll find some good instructions on how to replace the resistor.

Good luck!

I just wanted to second the buying a new radio / new window motor thing.

But I really wanted to say, Trekkie, that was a very nice first post. For being a newbie, I can definately tell you've spent some time on the forum before your first post. That was informative feedback. Everyone else on this thread said good stuff, but I just wanted to say nice job to Trekkie for such a good first post - and welcome to the forum.
