I smell BS with this eGay auction. They're claiming 600+HP and 172mph top speed.
BTW: the "buy it now" is  HAHAHA 75,000

500HP isn't unheard of from the EJ22...why not more from the EJ25? Can you enlighten me?

Very possible figure, the fastest new-gen STI in the USA right now is running a 9.6 second quarter @ 145mph so I would expect even more at the top end speed.
Look at the list of add-ons too, there's a small fortune in parts there too.
So, were you being serious or just trolling?

:werd: I could see that kind of power coming from an STi...As Ray said, there's a small fortune in parts there. There were some videos floating around here somewhere of a WRX down under that had 500HP with an EJ22.

IIRC the most powerful Impreza out there was a 22B model modded to pull around 720hp.....
Mark Lovell's Pikes Peak winning hill climb car was tuned to around 600hp off an EJ20.
Need I say much more?

Totally serious.
There may be an assload of bolt-ons but can the motor really hold 35psi on stock internals?
also, if I was the owner and had 600+HP and did 172mph I'd have a friggen roll cage and a functional wing.
all in all it just doesn't sound right to me. If it's real, awesome. but I doubt it is.

It should be able to hold 35psi for short time periods, notice he does mention a boost controller so it can be turned down.
Just because a turbo is listed as able to push out 35psi, doesn't mean he's actually using it to push out that.
Keep in mind, the STI 'stock internals' aren't quite the same as WRX stock internals.
I do tend to agree on the rear spoiler question, why the heck would you remove the STI spoiler and put on a stock WRX spoiler?
Heck, if you really want to call BS on the guy, phone him, he lists his phone number several times.
BTW, the more I look at the car and his list of mods, it does start to look a little BS'ish doesn't it.

how do you rally a 2.5... last i checked the rules were 2.0 max...
freakray
06-13-2004, 03:02 PM
The rules in FIA sanctioned events are 2.0 max with the 37mm restrictor on the turbo.
On the other hand, in open amateur classes on non-sanctioned events, the rules are whatever organisers want them to be.

The car is no bs. MZM Performance out of Austin, Texas built the car. Their shop is about 5 minutes from my house. The car definately is no joke, it looks even better in person. The cars was purpose-built to run in the Big-Bend open road race. There was no intention of running professional rally races, which is why the engine is a 2.5 litre and the turbo bigger than 37mm. If you read the entire Ebay page, you will see near the bottom that it states the car makes 409whp @ 21 psi before a few other mods, so that can get you an idea of how fast it really is. Here is a link to MZM's site where you can also find the car. www.mzmperformance.com They're nice people and they really know what they are doing. Here is a link to pictures of the car alone on the Customer Cars page of MZM. http://www.mzmperformance.com/cars/as/index.phtml?subject=austin%20subaru&id=602066140ce7f183ba78 Please do a little research before you doubt something. This same company has built a 20B 3-rotor that has 1500hp, they're no joke.

some people just like the wrx spoiler and dont like the STI one, also kinda does sleeper but I think wingless makes a better sleeper

thats the first time ive ever seen a regular rex spoiler on a sti, i'd never take that over 120, my friend has a sti and he said the double plane spoiler actually held it down, that spoiler is hella gay, and 75,000 is way too freakin much

"This Subaru WRX STI was built for the Big Bend Open Road Race on April 21 through the 24th. It was driven by professional driver Derek Easty. Named it the fastest Subaru WRX STI, with the bolt on system, in the nation. I have the Mustang Dynamometer on this vehicle, which states 409 horses at the wheel with a 21 PSI before extra adds and removing governor"
http://www.bborr.com/2004/2004results.html shows the car did not finish, but it was entered. See picture at http://www.bborr.com/2004/days4.html and http://www.bborr.com/2004/days5.html. Roll bars are recommended but not manditory for this race.
