when i am racing, I normaly shift at 8k rpm's(redline) . Is that the optimum time to shift or should i do it sooner or wait till a little after red line.

i usually shift before i hit redline .
if u wait till after redline its too late, ur shifting its not gonna be right. well thats just my opinions .. wait till u get more replies so u will have an idea

It depends on what mods you have on your car. If you have a stock, it might be best to shift before hitting redline since the HP and torque curves usually start to dip at that point.
But always try to keep it above the VTEC point if you're racing.

I'd shift between 7400 and redline. Don't go over redline.

Shift 8200 just before the limiter. You will stay in the Vtec. If you got Hondata 8500.

I don't think its a good idea to reach beyond redline even if you have the hondata mod. You'll have to change your valve springs to be able to handle the stress if you decide to go beyond the red all the time. Otherwise you're going to bend them and that's not very good.

Engine makes peak HP at 7400-7500 rpm, shifting there or a little above you should be able to maintain the rpms and keep the VTEC engaged.

You Should Shift At 7900 Rpm's Because Thats Where You Hp Top's Off And Your Vtec Kicks In At 600 Rpm's So Around 7900 Rpm's Shift At

Is this with the hondata flash? Because when I tested this out, I had to get very close to redline in order to upshift and keep VTEC engaged. At 7400-7500, I would get close enough to engaging it but not quite there as stated above by RSX.
