My car is being a ass. The tranny bearing is rubbing so I get this awful growling noise. I've replaced the tranny once already, so I am getting tired of it. Here's my idea....stick a nice big fat engine in this thing. It's a 91 Honda Civic DX. Nothing special on it yet, but if I stick a new engine in it I can get at least two more years out of it. So what I am looking for is any knowlage of any good shops in the Beaverton/Portland area that will do a swap for me, do it well and do it right the first time. Currently this project car is stock, so gimme some hints on what I should be expecting to pay and all that good stuff. It would help if some of you kind peeps that have already had it done to their own car tell me what shops to avoid and all that jazz. If I can't do something with this car soon, it's off to the junkyard and I'm riding the Trimet :bloated:

I don't know of any good shops that do engine swaps really. I would say go with the B16A (like in the 99-2000 Si or the VTEC Del Sol) I hear its not that hard of a swap and there are a lot of parts for this engine. Some people go with the Integra LS engine. Its all up to you on how much you want to spend on a swap. I would say find someone that you know that has done a engine swap before and read some stuff on Hybrid Honda and try and do it your self. All I have found out is that there are a lot of shops that don't want to do a Hybrid swap.

I can get you an engine no problem.. just let me know what you want, and I'll get a price for you.
As for putting it in the car in portland, I'll ask around..

youre rolling a dx, so youre gonna have to convert the dpfi over to mpfi. then id go with a b16a1, be sure to get the cable tranny as well.....unless you like lots of unnecessary work and costs to get the hydraulic tranny set up on your car....as for shops...i dunno since I dont live up there:(
got anymore questions, just hit up the 71-91 civic/crx forum:cool:
