I have been looking at some of these "AIR INTAKE TURBO POWER CHIPs" and "SPEEDCHIPs" they seem like a cheep way to get 20 Hp. There is also a "Pro Choice High Performance Module(going for $28)". Are they really effective, and is it worth $5. It isnt much of a loss. Any input on this is appreciated.

they're a resistor chip that can be bought at radio shack for .05. they make the ecu think the air is colder. it's a waste of time IMO save the five bucks and buy some air fresheners

ya it is a .05 resistor and it basically makes your car get hot... hp wise... no idea... but ya on my other forum which i have for my turbo geo they try to sell that shit... its a waste of money and is bad for your car... if you want a power module... go to a tune shop they will make you a chip and calibrate as you like to make your car gain anywhere from 50-120 extrahp for around $500... not bad.. but imo you should upgrade turbo or ic or something that looks good too.... :) enjoy

rofl gain horsepower by making your car hotter?[and more prone to knock] that does the EXACT opposite, youll lose hp...and hurt your engine in the process.

It doesn't make the car hotter.

if you want some power from a (relativly) cheap mod that doesnt give any show check out dsmchips i dont know what car you have they might not make one for you but they look a lot better then the ebay resistors. this link is for their site http://www.dsmchips.com/ this one is a dsmtuners post about them http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=95280&page=2&pp=25

they probably didnt show up as links but you can cut and paste... right?

So what exactly do those "Next Level" chips do? The dyno sheets showed 17hp gains on a stock ford escape. However, if it's anything like the Venom400, then I've heard it is completely useless.

From what I've been told, all they do is trick your ecu into thinking your at WOT when you're only around half-throttle. Some people say it's awesome and they love it, but there are just as many (if not more) that say it's a worthless POS. If I were you, I'd do some heavy research before I bought any "performace speedchip" for my car! =)

well ill tell ya,i did get one of those ebay chips for like 2 bucks,i dont want to say i felt a difference cuz some of these people will flip out,but i thought i could feel a little difference, but those are alot different than the one in that link, they even hook up different,so who knows,ps my friend is buying that venom chip thing for his chevy cavi so when he puts it in ill let you know, cool

there are soo many other things to do that will give you REAL gains. don't waste your time on chips and piggyback resistors...
