Are Lingenfelter kits the best way to get more power?

When I finally get a Corvette I want to add more power.
The $10,000 kit that makes the vette 500 HP sounds nice.
Is that the best way to go or are LE kits overpriced?
How about NOS?

NOS no way, if you have the movie "life after the quarter mile" you can see how many vette engines blew from NOS, so i don not reccomend it, and on my 95 z28 if i just put 2.5k into it i can get 480-500hp easy w/o nos, s/c or turbo! but anyways on any expensive car its expensive to upgrade it, but NOS is ok on like lambos cause the engine can handle it easy, but trust me on this one it will hurt the vette!

Thanks for the reply
Doesnt nos come in 50 horsepower shots and higher?
I know a lot of ricers use NOS on thier much smaller engines.

You obviously don't know what an ls1 engine can handle. I know many vettes that have a 100 shot of nitrous. My friend has a 2002 c5 that has a 100 shot that he has been using for over a year now. He recently replaced his pistons and to his pleasure he found no visible damage to the engine. The ls1 is more than capable of handling a 100 shot.

As far as the original question goes. LPE is awesome. It does come with a hefty price tag but Lingenfelter is known for the quality of its service and product. If you have the money I would recommend Lingenfelter. If you don't there are many ways to add power to a Corvette or any LS1/6. Just keep in mind.. if you add power.. make sure your suspension/wheels/tires can handle what you get.
