hello i need advice.

I currently bought a dead 89 civic lxi d15b2.

I discovered its the dizzy = theres no spark to my new plusgs and i did check the wires... so

I thought about simple converting the dpfi to mpfi.

Im currently re working the whole car (i got tired of shit boxes) body work, prime, new paint the works, so im currently skateboarding to work.

I hear a rumor that a d15b2 on a dpfi runs around 18 to 17 secs .

I can get my hands on a dohc zc and i found out the bolt up with ease (I researched it). also they run around 15s in a rex.

Should i just wait and drop the dohc zc in this car (may take about 3 months before i can drive it) or just live with the b2 mpfi swap (i'll be able to drive around this month).

opinons.... what do you all think i should do?

keep in mind im also not going to make this 4dr leave my yard util its fully painted even if it can fire up and pass safety!

by the way... i do want more power , which is why i though about the mpfi swap instead of spending the cash on a 1.5 dizzy....

would a d15b2 mpfi boost be any fun? or would a stock 130 hp out run it?

hmmm no replies yet . :-{ i know = give it more time.

how about an alternator? i couldnt find any info on if i can keep my b2 alternator. the reason is i got a brand new under warranty with this car.

i even thought about buying a 1.5 dizzy for now off of ebay for cheapy cash and drive it like that until i get a lot of new parts for the dohc.

any thoughts on that one?

Ya, save your money get the ZC if you want some power. A 1.5 with the MPFI will still be pretty slow.

someone finally researched. :bigthumb: but yea i would go with a dohc zc, it will be alot more powerful than the d15.

as for a boosted d15, i think it would be more trouble than its worth, and more expensive. :2cents:

hey, i recently thought of another question to ask...

what would be a better setup for either my 4 dr 89 civic or 87 crx= a z6 or a d16a1 dohc?

z6 for the 89. and the d16a1 for the 87. the reasoning is that the d16a1 doesnt bolt into a 4th gen civic and is not worth making it fit. but the d16a1 is a bolt in for a 1st gen rex.

thanx for the help, what is better under boost (given the fact both motors are stock and running the same turbo components) ?

shouldnt it be the z6? all stock is does provide more power than the a1.

I plan on running stock for a couple of months; i'll build the motor eventually and then boost it! I love rex's but the 4dr has all power everything = the rex is all manual labor!

so what would be more of a power plant under boost in the end? the a1 in my 87 rex under boost or the z6 in my 4dr under boost?
