2K1 Monte AC problem

The A/C on my Monte stopped working earlier this summer.
I thought it may be freon but my brother and law and I replaced that and it still will not work.
We could bypass a relay under the hood and kick the compressor on manually, but can't get the control head to do it. He has a nice snap on diagnostics module and it didn't indicate any trouble codes, but couldn't kick it on with that either.
We bought the car used, and shortly afterwards, had to take it back to the dealer to have the control head replaced. I thought this may be the culprit again and bought once from a local salvage yard. I installed it today and it did not fix the problem.
Something else that has popped up here lately is the blue dash lights, in the radio and odometer, will come on for a couple of seconds, then go off completely. The radio still works but no display. So far as I know, nothing else is messed up yet.
Has anyone experienced any issues like this? I sure would appreciate any feedback. I know the dealer will tear my up, $$$, if I take it back to him.
Thanks

If your bro-inlaw can bypass the relay, your fuses are ok.
ck. the relay under the hood.there is also a pressure switch on the a/c line. A test lamp can show power at this
connector. If there is power;replace the switch.
