AC leak

After replacing the AC clutch due to a frozen bearing, the system won't hold referigerant. The manual seems to show that there is a shaft seal or a seal in the area where the clutch is. I don't remember seeing a seal or a seat for that matter while replacing the clutch.
Is there a seal that should be replaced when replacing the clutch? The reason I'm asking is the clutch went on with great force and if there is no seal there, I would rather not take it back off.
Clutch works fine and I can fill system and it gets fairly cool, but by the end of the day it has leaked off.

Replace the seal under the clutch on the shaft.

You need the correct tools to remove and replace the clutch assembly. You also need a special tool to remve the shaft seal from the compressor. If you have been using force on the compressor shaft you may well have damaged the shaft seal. The compressor shaft seal should always be replaced when the compressor is removed, more so if the bearing has worn.

Thanks for the info. I did have tools for removal/install of clutch. I did not know about the shaft seal needing to be replaced with clutch rplcmnt.
Anyways, the tranny crapped again (2nd time) so I donated this pos to Salvation army.
