What pisses me off...

I know of two kids that go to a high school not too far from mine that own brand spankin new RX-8s. What makes me mad is how each time i notice them start the car, they speed off, shifting at like redline.

I know, i know, to each his own, but can't they know somehow that that is bad for their cars?

I'd hate to see a nice new car like an rx8 die out at like 60k miles and have them have to deal with fninding a new engine/rebuild.

(i woulda posted this in the rx8 forum, but you can only hear crickets in there :p )

Yeah, if their parents have the money to get new RX8's in HS, then they wouldnt mind paying for a new motor

I think he means they don't let the car warm up before they rev it up to redline

but if u shift at a very high rpm..like at 6k or 7k (1-2nd)without warming it up at first. Should it still be fine to do that?

no, you should shift at 3-3.5 untill its fully warmed up

I live in Rockland county, NY, about 30 minutes away from NYC.

These kids live one of the rich districts, imean at that school everybody is rich and italian (seriously).

My schools realy poor. I think the best car in our lot would be a 02 wrx or a camaro, thats it. The rest are civics, kia's, etc

Their parking lot (no joking) has: 2 rx8's, a 350z, a crossfire, a hummer,several bmw's and m-b's, and idont know atleast 6 mustag gt's.

Same with my school. There are 4 350z's, a couple Mustang GTs, 2 brand spankin' new WRXs, my friend's 3000GT, 2 Jaguar S-Types, a couple BMW's, 2 Lexus IS 300's, Eclipses, A Chevelle, and my friend's Charger. All of these people got these cars right around the time the got their licenses. Even before. I myself am looking for an FD to teach them a lesson about cars. Rich bitches.

FD's aren't too expensive anymore these days. I've seen good ones run from 7k-15k. If you really work hard for it, you could pull it off.

for 7k it has some problems, I'd say 9k would be the best you'll find a nice shape one that runs good... remember they need rebuilds before 100k miles

A guy over on No Pistons just bought a 93 Touring and it was modded real nice and was a New York State SCCA regional winner in A- Street Prepared. He paid 12K for it.

I had an employee that owned a Dodge Intrepid and blew 2 engines because he would start it up and peel out of the parking lot with the engine ice cold every day.

We talked him in to a non-turbo RX-7 and he has owned it for 2 years now driving the same way without a problem. I personally would not abuse my car like that, but, he did and I knew a non-turbo rotary would hold up to the abuse. Thos RX-8 guys probably will not have a problem.

thats interesting to know, good story.

but while we are in a thread about what pisses us off... it pisses me off that we have no mods in the rx-7 section for like 2 months, then in the last week 2 mods come and one is talking about "next comes the ban stick" screw the mods, they are never here so they need to go back to their own worthless lives and leave us alone. too many freaking mods have huge egos and go on power trips all the time, sorry for this pointless post but it pisses me off.

Hence, why I primarily post in No Pistons. The mods there are cool and dont threaten banning a person unless they are being a total asshole.
