question(s) on lowerin my rex

I found some coilovers on ebay that i think i may buy.

1.Do i need aftermarket shocks right away, if so why?

2.Do i need a camber correction kit right away, if so why?

i would recomend some shocks,but if their coilovers just dont lower it too much and the ride should be fine.same with the camder kit,if you dont lowere it too much it should be o.k.you should try and get a allignment tho.My :2cents:

How much is too much? I plan on lowerin it a good 2-2.5 inches, so im guessing ill need shocks and camber kit? dammit, i hate spending money :banghead:

I think you should get some springs. Coilovers are really bouncy and annoying. 1.5 is fine without camber kit needed.

1.5 is perfect and you shouldnt need a camber kit. I was worried about the same things when i lowered my civic but it turned out fine. I would suggest changing the shocks at the same time as the springs. Just because its kinda a pain in the ass. I did mine myself and it was a head ache but worth it. what brand u going with?

Well, unfortunately due to short of funds, i am only goin with dropzone but they have a lifetime warranty so we'll se what happens. shockwise im prolly goin with kyb. the reason i have to lower it is because the bodyshop im takin my rex too it totaly gonna redo the fenders and he needs to know how to mold them so they wont rub, thats why i kinda wanna get coilovers so i can like slam it to the lowest i would wanna go that way i know that i wouldnt rub. does anyone no what midas might charge to put some springs and shocks on an 89 rexxy?

I own some dropzone coilovers, they are accually really good, no noticable differnce in them and $350 dollar sets that I'v also used (wont mention any names). The rear you can go about 4" before needing new shocks but the front anything over 2.75 I'd recomend new ones. As for camber kits, you can go 3" in the front without drasticly needing a camber kit, just run your tire pressure a few pounds lower than normal.

Just a note, My 91dx was dropped 2", and it threw the camber off by 3 degrees. If you are going to drop your car, do the smart thing and get a camber kit, and get your alignment checked. Your tires will thank you. Just because something is cheaper doesn't make it easier, if you are comfortable changing these things yourself, then by all means do it, but if you aren't sure, do the safe thing and take it to a shop. Bottom line is your life is riding in your car, make sure you know what you are doing.

Is this post a joke? I can't stop laughing.....anyways I was dropped 2.5" on Suspension Technique springs and Koni Yellows and had noticeable camber wear on the tires. Changed the springs for Skunk2 coils with ~2" drop and havent had any problems camber wise. You dont really need a camber kit....unless you like your tires. Rode in a car with coilovers dropped 2.5" on stock shocks and it was not fun, but they worked.

maybe no camber kit needed but if you drop your car get an alignment right away.

may seem fine in the dry but if the road is covered in water.. in heavy rains the car could jump one direction then the other hehe

scary stuff there.. puts your life and others on the road in danger.

i would deffinately suggest the camber kit but if the money is really tight shocks can wait a few weeks if need be ut you will be taking everything apart and putting it back together 2 times instead of just once

Most CRX's do not need camber correction unless they are dropped lower than about 1.5" OR there is some pre-existing problem that is causing the camber to be knocked out of spec. (ie: bent suspension component). I notice a slight camber wear on my rear tires at a 1.75" drop on Neuspeed Sport Springs. I slapped a couple of washers under the top suspension arm and bolted it back on, and the problem was solved.

well, does anyone know where i can get a cheaper camber kit than 100 bucks. i checked all over ebay and nothin under about $90. I only have about 150 right now lol. someone tell me if im right, i am going to lower the REXXX about 2 inches front and back. i am definitely going to need a camber if i go this low. shocks i dont need for a while. but the thing is some correction kits only correct up to 1.75 degrees, i dont know how many inches of drop that is but im thinkin its not a whole lot. AHHHHHHH?!?!?!?!

i mean i only have 150 for coils and camber, didnt want anyone thinkin i was a smartass. :bananasmi lol
