Well I am 15 and weight 140 while being 5"5. I am trying to workout at least 3 times a week and mostly doing abs exersises and upper body exersises. I do gain muscles but my fat still stays. About my diet, I do not eat a lot of sweats or bread, mostly healthy food like meat, fish, and sometimes mexican food.
Would some one tell me why is that so and how can i lose that fat so that my muscles will show up.

along with the workout, you need to do cardio stuff to: ride a bike, go running, swimming, etc. something toreally get your heart rate up should help in shedding some fat

What do you eat for carbohydrates? My guess is you eat breads, pasta, cereals etc., right?

I agree. My cousin works as a physical therapist and said she rehabiliates over weight kids all the time. She told me that she has them run in place or do jumping jacks for 2 minutes straight and then has them stop for 5-10 minutes and repeat the process like 6 times. She said she has seen them drop a lot of weight in impressive amounts of time. But change your diet, not the atkins or any of that shit, just eat healthier and do cardio.

Very well put Jason.

Cardio is probably the best fat burning method you can use- Start off by going for a long walk. Stairs and hills are a good help here. After a few weeks, start running, keep this up in conjunction with your weight training regime and eat healthier and you are off to a good start.

No more lifts for me last 2 weeks! (Except when going to an alarm).

Losing a bit already. You can do it.

Thank you  I should also mention the overweight kids she works with have medical conditions that make them gain weight in extreme excess and not caused from bad eating habits. The saddest story she told me was a kid, I believe, 13 and weighs 650lbs.

My old roomate use to be on the heavier side, but more of the same, and started jogging. In like 3 months we all noticed a tremendous difference. And then he just kept up with it from there.

I would maybe watch the Calorie Camando on the Food Network. He finds healthier ways to make the food people love. I saw last week, him make chilli cheese fries and cut out like 600 calories and almost all of the fat. Best of luck.

^:1: im 5'6" / 5'7" and i only weigh 120 on a good day...but im by no means skin and bones; kinda odd i guess. and I figured that since muscle weighs more than fat I would have gained weigh since I startd exercising a lot about a year and a half ago....i dont think ive gained more than like 5 pounds, but im definatly better built

go figure that out :screwy:

Im 15, 6'1" and 210 lbs. I used to be just about as big at 5'10", but i quit eating so much and ran a little more, and the weight grew on me. Im still not skinny or anything, but the weight helps pushing people around in football. I personally prefer biking over running, mostly because my calf's get a better workout. That and a jogger just got attacked near my house the other day.

well, if you're 6'1 and 210, you shouldn't have to worry about getting mugged :uhoh:

im now down to 205. it took a year
and excercise, i used power 90
i never lifted weights, just used
to power bands that come with it
and i look loke i have lifted weights
and really worked out on machines
all i did was exercise with the video
and it really does work. i recomend it,

Yeah, i suppose not. Its not really the mugging that im worried about, its the hairy hicks with deer rifles trying to rape me that scares me.

My advice is not to grow old :grinno: I was a lot fatter than you are when I was your age. I started surfing, riding a bicycle and playing sports, then I lost a lot of weight and kept it off until I grew old and quit smoking. I'm really trying to lose weight again, but being old makes it harder than usual. Good to hear that you are trying to help yourself, good luck.

yeah, my brother use to be a tank about a year ago now, he got a new bike, and has riden it every day since, literally. out of 50 days school days, he would ride his bike, 49, that 50'th day would be raining really heavily, but anyway, he has lost a good 20kg, and has thined up a lot.

He pulled my bike a part, and now I don't have a bike, so I can't go on bike rides no more.

lots of cardio, and learn to eat better, these are unavoidable, but the difference between people who lose weight and people who dont is patience and dedication. You have to be paitent because you will not see results in 2 days, it will take a long time, but it is worth it! You pretty much have to get the patience for yourself ( alittle motivation from your friends doesnt hurt either) but if your having trouble being dedicated to a workout, you might want to thing about involving your self in a structured program with a personal trainer. Make sure you pick one that will push you, and not let you quit. IT WILL PAY OFF. No pain no game, right

adding to what he said^^^

When i was in high school (2 years ago) i was a runner, i did cross country and track and was very good at it. But people always asked me, how can you run like that or god running is so hard, BLAH BLAH BLAH just whine and complain about it all the time. And really the only thing that made me a better runner than most was that i had the will to push myself just a little bit harder. Running is 90% mental 10% physical, it really is trust me. Stick with the running it will pay off so well in the long run. my younger brother used to be pretty overweight, but he started running everyday, now hes slimmed down alot.

Let me throw my horribly long 2 cents in here.

First of all im gonna agree with everyone here, pushups dont get the fat out, neither do those "ab roller" things. cardio does!

Secondly (Here comes the annoying part) lets do some fun math.:) First off,you say your 140. Now if we times that by 12,it will give us 1680. This is just a ROUGH DRAFT of how many calories your body burns in one day (24 hrs.) of sitting on your az watching a newlyweds marathon.

Now one pound of fat is about 3500 calories, the whole point is to eat less calories than your body needs in one day. Lets say for example you eat a "Six Dollar Burger" one day. Thats already 2000 calories.Minus the soda and fries. woohoo, your body is 320 out of 3500 calories to being a pound heavier.I think you understand it by now.

Now heres where exercise comes in,if you burn an extra 300 calories a day doing whatever(running,b-ball,etc.) you'll add to your daily total of calories your body used in one day.which means that if you reach your 1680 limit, and you exercised that day, you'll have a good 2000 cal. limit, which also means you can either have a snickers bar,or you can shed those extra calories for good.( It's up to you).

Just my :2cents: ,I had fun typing that for some reason. :lol2:

There are several other ways to lose weight - don't listen to these pansies. Pump yourself full of chemicals every Friday night and go clubbing. Never seen a fat clubber in my life.

PWNED

Oz, you are a good observer!
BUT...I have a equally as good explanation!

Sometimes, overweight people are over-conscience about their weight, and would rather prefer to 'avoid' the club scene. I know I would. Plus, most of them probably hate dancing, I do!

me and a mate are gunna fix an old bike up for me, so I can start riding again, and lose the weight I've gained over the past 11 months.

i didn't read everything...but the one thing u need the most is a buddy...most people need to have someone there with the to ecourage them and push them pass their limits...besides, they're there to slap u around when they c u with a snickers or sittin around watchin tv

im 6'2'' about 200 while one of my friends is 6'3'' 210 and he looks huge compared to me its kinda crazy. Everyone says i look like im 160-170.
Just do cardio stuff regularly. I play baseball and basketball, that keeps me in shape.

I've been riding for a few (2-3) hours per day now. But not every day, about 3-4 times per week.
But I KNOW I'm not losing any weight, because, working for a pizza place, I have access to cheap pizza's, and even free ones, do I've taken advantage of that, at least 3 times in the past fortnight, I ride to work it off, and it does good. It does good.

To get an somewhat scientific answer, calculate your BMI.

In this case you're at 23.3, perfectly normal. I'm 25.3 at 6' 4" 208lb, but if you saw me, I'm anything but overweight.

The best thing to watch when losing weight is what and when you eat it. You don't have to stop eating all your favorite foods. Throughout the day your body naturally burns fat with the things you do(unless you sit on your @$$ all freakin day long-GET UP!!!)and the things you eat after about 5P.M. you don't burn off. So as the day goes on eat healthier foods, eat your candy, etc, early in the day and it will burn easily. Stay off the soda, take multi-vitamins and just stay active(not on the couch all day) and you will lose weight and be healthy.

you cannot judge weather or not someone is overweight just by their height and weight. skelatal structure, fat, and muscle do not make up the same amount of weight in every peoson. people are all different.

looking to lose weight?

along with cardio ( intense interval training is best, it "teaches" your body to use fat for energy more efficiently, and will burn more calories overall )

do it for as long as is possible if you arnt doing interval training, cardio keeps your metabolic rate up higher for longer when done for an extended amount of time when you run for a longer period of time, not when you run faster.

you can change your weight program around to burn off a few more calories as well. Contrary to what most people think low reps at heavy weight will help you to burn calories MUCH more than high rep sets with light weight, because it will raise your metabolic rate higher for a onger period of time
