Hi, I'm new to this forum I hope you can help. I'm unable to release rear hatch on 2000 Blazer. Tried 3 ways by using keyless remote, rear hatch button on dash and the release button by rear wiper. Also power lock buttons are not working. I can use the keyless remote to lock and unlock the car. My fuses are working. Is this a common problem with the 2000 model? Where else can I look before taking the truck to the mechanic?

I am having the same exact problem with my 2000 Blazer (2door) About four days ago the power lock buttons on the doors stopped working, the rear hatch is now stuck closed, you cannot open it with a key or use the hatch button. My remote works fine to unlock the doors but it still doesn't open the hatch. Can anyone help out? I went to best buy to ask if the alarm system could be interfering with the locks..they said "highly unlikly"...but they did mention that the main switch on the drivers side could be bad, inturn stopping all the locks from working....but I still don't see why I cannot open the hatch with my key......

Sounds like the lock mechanism itself is bad. Yes, this is very comon.

I have discovered the problem...Through my process of checking the fuses I started by looking in the drivers side fuse box on the left side of the dash. I found the power lock fuse and it was fine. Me, assuming that there would be only one fuse for the power locks, didn't give the fuse box under the hood a good enough look. On my second, last ditch effort to search the fuses,to my surprise I discovered another fuse for the power mirrors and the power locks, and yep, it was blown. Onced replaced everything was back to normal. I still don't understand why I couldn't unlock my hatch with a key.......?

i am having the same problem with a 98 Blazer. just checked here and found the solution - but i can't find the fuse under the hood you replaced. i have read the label on the inside of the fuse box cover over and over but just don't see anything that says Power Door Locks.

which fuse is it exactly?

Hi, everyone thank you for responding to my question. My mechanic fixed the problem. He told me(if I'm understanding him right)there is a separate computer behind the drivers door panel which regulates the rear hatch and power locks. He did not go into details on how he got it to work but I'm happy. The only thing that is different in that I have to turn the ignition key part of the way for everything to work. At this point I'm just thankful. I hope you all can go a little further with this info.

i had the same symptoms - could not open the rear hatch glass, the power mirrors didn't work and the power door locks operated with the remote only (not with the door switch).

i found a blown fuse in the dashboard fuse panel - there were no bad fuses involved under the hood!

I had the same problem in my 2001 Blazer. My remote would unlock and lock the doors and back hatch, but I couldn't unlock them with the switch on the door and I couldn't unlock the back hatch with the key.
I checked the fuse on the side of the dash and it was okay. Then read this site and found out that there was another fuse. I checked it and it was the problem. Thanks to all

ok I have checked all fuses under the hood and the drivers side fuse box, tomorrow I will look for this computer your mechanic spoke of behind the fusebox. i have the power locks, power mirrors, and rear hatch not working unless i put it in gear and keyless lock button entry.. i really dont want to go to the dealer..
