Hello,

I was told that my dad had owned a '49 Ford Fairlane. He was killed in an accident when I was 18 months old, so I've been searching and searching for a picture of this car that he loved so much. In my searching, I came across a few websites that said that the Ford Fairlane wasn't introduced until '61, but I'd found several '55 models. That confussed me! LOL Anyway, I'm thinking that I was given the wrong information or I just haven't searched enough yet. I'm wanting to know- first of all- how the Fairlane can be introduced in '61, but have Fairlanes already on the road as early as '55. And also- if by chance I was looking in the wrong places- if there is a '49 model of the Fairlane, where can I go to see a pic.? Thank you, in advance, for your time.

So there may be a '49 Fairlane out there somewhere. Would you happen to know where I should look? I even went to Ford.com but couldn't find it there. I'm at a lost as to where to look next.

I spoke with a high school friend of his and asked him about the Fairlane that my dad had. He told me it was a 1959 Ford Fairlane 500. So I was given wrong information. I should've asked him if it was a 2 or 4 door car. LOL I'm going to search for the Fairlane 500 now.

if you want to find a picture of a 59 fairlane, the best way is go into a engine search and type in 59 fairlane and when the list of sites come up, look to the top of that page and you should see a couple of options... one shoulld be "images".... click on there and you will get a ton of pics to chose from...good luck

Your Dad had great taste!!! The '59's were BEEAUUTIIFULL cars!! Especially the 2 door 500's. A good friend and classmate of mine had a green and white one. I had a blue and white '57. Another buddy had a solid black '58. I believe the Fairlanes started in '55. Before that the 'big' Fords were Customs. I am now restomoding a '63 Fairlane Sports Coupe. Get yourself a '59 and make your Dad proud. Snappy
