freeze plug leak

Does anyone know how to replace the freeze plug? Its a 97 GD Voyager. 3.0 Lt. The plug is rusted out and leaks. The Chilton manual is no help.

Forgot to mention, get the brass plugs if you can. They cost more but you'll never have to replace it again.

The major problem with changing freeze plugs are getting to them. The first thing you will need to do is drain the coolant. Once this is done, remove the old plug by either drilling through it with a drill bit and put a screw or bolt in it if you don't have a puller. Once the old plug is out take the new plug and coat the edges with sealant. This can be purchased with the new plug or some even come with it. You will need a plug tool if you want to do it right but you can use a socket of the appropriate size. Hammer the plug in place, be careful not to drive it into the block. Refill the cooling system and you should be good to go. This might be a good time to replace the thermostat and radiator hoses if they need it. Why drain the cooling system twice if you don't need to.
