I play to lower my hatch and I have heard about anything over 1.75 inch concerns abnormal tire wear and such. Now my friends CRX he cut his springs like 3 inches off and barely gets tire wear but I kno bouncy ride and all. My other friend has a hatch like mine and bought weapon R coilovers for $110. he has it so like the lil mud flap in the front is touching the ground but his tires dont like bend out like as if he were to need a camber kit. I really wanted to get 2-2.25 lowering springs because I love that low feeling and how it looks. I wanted to know how much tire wear I am going to have to be prepaired for and also what are some good springs no more then $180 I could get. Also how hard is it to install a camber kit. and yes I know you say if I ask that question I shouldnt do it myself but I have to learn something and Im talented at these things. Just asking for opinions. Thanx

I would recommend H&R Race Springs or possibly Neuspeed Race Springs. The ride is very rough though, but that is to be expected. You are also going to need to think about buying aftermarket shocks. Your stock ones will last maybe a month and the ride will be crap unless you opt for possibly KYB AGX, (about the lowest price if you are concerned with the money side of things). But I would just like to reiterate what people say all the time in here...when dealing with suspension, you get what you pay for. For a great setup, it's going to cost you. By the way, I don't want to say definitively but I'm pretty sure that you will need a camber kit after you change the ride height that much. I lowered my car 2" and the camber is terrible but of course your suspension is set up differently so I'm not sure.

Well I really dont care much if I have a bouncy ride or feel all the bumps. I used to have a 90 cougar and my god I seriously went bajaing in it cuz I could lauch up 2feet off the ground and bottom out and I wouldnt know. My friends would be like OMFG sparks... but anyway I willin to sacrifice bumps to save a lil money iif its like my friends CRX I can deal with it. He cuz 3 inches off and dont have a camber and has stock struts and I could deal driving his car but if I cant then how much is them shocks going for?

:grinno:
You can buy the shocks from here (http://www.tirerack.com). They are a really good company. I've bought tons of stuff from them. Looks like it's going to be $85 x2 for the front and $91 x2 for the rear, plus whatever shipping is. BTW: The H&R Race Springs are $156 +shipping from TireRack.

Well on ebay I found some neuspeed springs, h&r and tenzo springs for all around 140-150 wit shipping. the Tenzos are 2.25, Neuspeed is 2.25 front 2.0 rear, and the h&rs are 2.25 front and 2.0 also. So what would you preffer also with the stock shock what happens if I leave em on?

Another quick Q. Say I invest in these Kybs how much time and difficulty is it to put on?

For the first question, I'm not 100% sure. If it was me, I'd probably go with the H&R but I'm kind of bias since that's what I have. I've never heard anything bad about them though.

The shocks would be no problem to install because you need to take them out to install the springs anyway. Just remember to save all the miscellaneous parts from the old shocks for use with the new ones and cut the bump stops in half before putting them on the new shocks. If you stick with the stock ones, the ride will be very bad. You will bounce over bumps as opposed to absorbing them. I still have stock shocks in the rear of my car and it sucks. I don't think it is bad for the springs though, just mainly a ride and handling issue.

I also found Skunk 2 springs and some Tenzo-r coilovers for about 180 bucks. My friend got a set of weapon-r coilovers for 110 bucks from this awesome performance store by me. I was a lil weary of that though if maybe weapon r makes cheap coilovers cuz Coilovers usualy are more exspensive but for a name brand like that cuz I kno they make decent body kits. You got any say on this. Maybe I should go for coilovers so I see what height I like?

Sorry it took me a while to reply back...I would still go with the springs / shocks setup. For a decent set of coil-overs you will have a spend a good amount of money.

About the only two brands I've heard people praising for their coil-overs are H&R and Tein. I don't have too much first-hand experience with coil-overs but those two brands seem to be the consensus people arive at.

I have heard way too many horror stories in these forums about people screwing up their cars with cheap coil-overs. Do a search if you want to know more about that type of suspension. People talk about it all the time in here.

i have neuspeed race springs on my car and the ride height looks pretty hot. the tires just meet the fender, so theres no wheel gap. the ride is alot stiffer than stock and when i had stock shocks on it, the ride was a piece of shit. tooooo harsh and bouncy. now that i have bilstein shocks on the car, the ride is alot better. i love the low aggressive look these springs gave my car.
i baught my race springs from ebay for $120 shipped. very good deal. u just gotta look out for deals on ebay. and i also got my bilstein heavy duty shocks from ebay, all brand new for $220 shipped (all four shocks).

if your going to lower the car more than 2 inches, then stay away from KYB AGX's and tokico illummina. i was in your position about 2 months ago, and i was constantly told to get either bilstein shocks or koni yellow shocks. the reason why is because the shaft of these shocks are shorter in length than those of the kyb agxs or the illluminas, which means that it's better for lowered cars. you will not blow these struts out as easily as the kyb agx, tokico, etc. but the thing about the koni yellows of the bilstein HD shocks is that there pretty expensive. the bilsteins HD retail for about $350 while the koni yellows go for over $400.
always search on ebay for cheap prices, u will find em eventually. i did!

what year is your hatch? 92-95? if so, then you can do a search on ebay for shocks for that car or the 94 and up integra. i have a 97 integra and i purchased the bilstein HD shocks for a 96-00 civic. even though they say that it's not made for the integra, they will work fine. if u get em for the 96-00 civicm the only adjustment your gonna have to make is in the rear strut. where it mounts to the lower control arm, ur gonna have to widen the "U" bracket/mount of the shock.

installing camber kit is sooooo easy:

for the rear, dont buy a camber kit, just do the washer and bolt trick. heres a link on how to do it:
http://www.g2ic.com/tegtips/brakesus/4.html

for the front, your gonna have to buy a camber kit. i have a set of drop zone front camber kit on my car. like the guys said in this forum, "You get what u pay for" after 2 months of driving, the bushing inside the camber kit came loose and it made my whole upper control arm slide foward and backwards everytime i accelerated or hit the brake, i did fix this problem by adding spacers/wahsers inbetween the control arm and bushing.
if i were u i would get the ingalls camber kit. alot better design qualtiy. all u need to do is unbolt the 14 mm bolt and nut that connects the stock non adjustable camber peices to the upper control arm (do it for both sides). once this is done, go inside the engine bay and unbolt the two 17 mm nut that hold these camber peices up. u might need to use a hammer to hammer the bolt done the hole once u get the 17 mm nut off. then you can remove it. after u remove it, just install the new adjustable camber pieces. and your done. it took me about 1 hour to intall the first time i did it. the second time i did it, i took the most 15 mins.

damn i wrote alot =/

Also one other thing is there an alternative to a front camber kit. I mean 100 bucks or so seems steep for 2 bolts n nuts.

no no, the rear camber adjustment is where u use the nut and bolt. im not sure how the 88 civics r set up so not sure if u can use the washer/bolt camber trick in the rear. 100 bucks is around the orice for the front camber, which is Not some bolt and washer. its a whole kit
