GSR or Ls

Should I try to get a GSR block to put my B16A head onto?...or should I do as someone was telling me and get the Ls block and put the B16A head onto it and pistons in it (is it even possible to do that)...I asked the same basic question on honda-tech but didnt get the answer I was looking for...

u probaly didnt get an answer from honda-tech. because that topic has probaly been covered there a million times. everything gets covered there. well first off wat kind of setup u gonna be doing turbo or N/A.

if it were me id probably go lsvtec

for an all motor car. the GSR would be better because it has a higher compression ratio.

i think you should just stick with a gsr block AND head and keep it simple.

yea that would probaly be the best choice.

no no but I have a b16a and I can get either get a GSR block or a Ls block to put into my car...I dont want to swap full motors just blocks...

I was wondering if it was possible to put b16a pistons into the Ls block to raise the compression because then I would go with the Ls block because its supposed to be stronger than the GSR block...

but if its not possible to do that with the Ls block I would just get the GSR block because its already got high compression and I wouldnt have to mess around with pistions...

B16A Head - B18A/B18B Block - B18A/B18B Pistons = 9.77:1 Compression 1834 Displacement

B16A Head - B18C Block - B18C Pistons = 10.04:1 Compression 1797 Displacement

B16A Head - B18A/B18B Block - B16A Pistons = 11.65:1 compression 1797 Displacement

just ESTIMATES since jdm and usdm pistons yield different compression rates.

yes you can put b16 pistons on ls rods, and that with a b16 head, will yield a higher compression ratio then a stock gsr.

but watch out because if you do an lsvtec and run it with a b16 ecu, yoru going to run lean and probably experience a power loss. and you should atleast replace the rod bolts with some arp bolts because they are really weak. a vtec oil pump would also be a good idea.

and idk if you would say that the ls block is stronger, i dont really think so. i think all of them are pretty equally strong.

Ok so i think im going to go with the Ls block or should I just build my B16A and see how much N/A power I can get out of that...

Can any verify if this is accurate?

ive seen 2 article on HCI where they built 2 b16s to over 200whp. theres someone on here that has like 214whp on his lsvtec. so you will make more power with the lsvtec but you gotta build it right so it lasts

that calculator seems pretty accurate, but i doubt anyone on here can verify that. maybe 1 or 2 but not all of them
