Hi,

I have a 92 Silverado (195K -engine & tranny rebuilt) and a 93 Suburban (140K). Both exhibit the same problems. From a stop, it feels like the rear end is rolling a bit (or perhaps a better description is it feels like it has some slack it needs to take up) before it moves. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to be annoying. Is there anything that one can tighten up to keep this from happening? Or is this just a characteristic of Chevy drivetrains?

Thanks,

LarryG

check for broken leaf spring (replace), or spring wrap from weak springs (replace or jcwhittney has traction springs that will help), i have also seen the center pin and gears wear in the diff carrier and cause a lot of play, if you jack raer up in gear and brace one tire and turn the other by hand you can feel the play (should have some but the ones ive done you could hear it clunk in the rear end), replace pin, spider gear set and lock bolt, this can be a pain sometimes play causes lock bolt to brake in carrier,
