Race Track Exemption

Hey Guys!
I was wondering if anyone out there has information on Race Track exemption for import into US. I've got all kinds of literature from the NHTSA, DOT, etc, but I'm looking for more like personal experience.
If any of you all can help me out I'd be greatly appreciative!

To my knowledge and what I've come to understand is, if you bring a car in as a "race car" "off road car" it will always remain that. This would be in reference to cars which were not for retail sale new in the United States.

i'm also pretty sure that you only get 1 year, and then the car has to go back, or get crushed.

Wow! I hope not.....
I was hoping there was a way I could just get an R32 for racing purposes, cuz that's all I want my personal car for (I've got plenty of daily drivers---too many!).
I guess I will start going into the paperwork and literature I have and see if that is true....

umm...I think you only get about 10k miles a year.But possible you can re-new the permit..as for the crushing of the car..I doubt that..highly...lol..theyd havta catch it first!

After looking this up through the NHTSA website I learned the following.....
The car in question has to have documentation from the manufacturer stating that it was built NOT to be a passenger vehicle used on the road
OR
That it has been modified past the point of being made able to be REmodified back into a passenger vehicle used on the road.
Besides this you also need to have information about what sanctioned race body(ies) you plan to use it on, a schedule of the events to be participating , and a copy of your competition drivers license.
So it seems to me to be a 30-70 chance to get RTE because, as we know, the Skyline has been determined to BE ABLE to be modified to be used on the highway (for about $15K, right....).
There is no miles used stipulation, because as I thought, a vehicle with RTE CAN NEVER, in any way, be used on the highway. The ability to recieve this is determined by it's unfitfulness for use on public roads. Although it is going to be a very busy day at SA today, I am going to inquire with the NHTSA via telephone to see what they say before I go through all the trouble of filing the paperwork.
p.s.--the RTE can be used for three years without payment of import duties (2.5% of car's purchase price, for example, $375 on a $15000 vehicle), or five years if it is paid. After that the vehicle must be exported again, or destroyed.
