Wiper arm removal

The black paint on the metal wiper arms of my '96 Maxima is wearing off and the shiny silver causes the sunlight to glare through. I don't want to chance overspray by painting them in place, but need help trying to remove them to paint and then replace them. All suggestions are appreciated.

Ah, I had the same problem when I bought my 96 Max, I replaced both wiper arms with brand new ones. Heres the best way to get them off,

First, open the hood, with a flat head screwdriver- pop off the little black caps that cover the wiper arm bolt. Then, with a ratchet and correct socket size, unscrew the wiper bolts. Next, close the hood, remove the wiper blades. Next, leave wiper arms in the park position. Raise the wiper arms up like you are washing your car. okay, this is where it gets tricky,,,, sometimes the wiper arms will come off if you just wiggle them enough. If that doesnt work, use a flat head screwdriver and while wiggling the wiper arms, try to pry the wiper arm up with the screwdriver (be careful not to scratch your hood). This worked for me. I hope it does the same for you, just keep working the flat head and the wiper arms. Good Luck!

Thanks for the details, hungy82. It sounds like you have the procedure down to an art form. Thanks, again.
