92 2500 2WD drivetrain clunk coming off the line

About 80-90% of the time, when I'm pulling away from a stop sign or light, I feel/hear a clunk in the drivetrain. It seems to be coming from the rear-end, axle or wheels but I just can't pin it down. It's not terrible enough so that passengers are aware of it but it sure is bugging me. One suggestion has been loose brake 'keepers' that slip forward as I'm stopping and then release back into place as I accelerate. That's the most plausible possibility I've heard, but if anyone else has a clue, I'd sure love to hear it. (I'm fairly confident the U-joint is fine).

play in u-joint, broken spring,, worn center pin and spider gears in rear carrier. spring wrap from old weak springs.
brake keeper? brake springs, rear drum, hear it when releasing brakes, maybe adjusters frozen rear brakes not adjusting, hardware broken, wheel cylinders sticking, maybe e-brake cable sticking holding shoe off anckor pin, usually hear or feel when stopping.

Wow - thanks for all the ideas! From the way it feels, I'll check the springs first - that seems the most consistent with the 'feel'.
