Oil Problems

I have a 93 Talon 2.0 N/t
A few weeks ago I topped off the oil(it was a quart low I think its burning it) anyways, 3 days after that I pull into work and I notice smoke pouring our from under the hood, I opened the hood and I oil cap was gone, I must have put it on wrong(don't ask, I'm not sure) or something. Well I got someone to run to The auto parts store and get me a cap and oil and bring it to me.Since then though after a long drive, while I'm sitting at idle, the oil light starts blinking and the oil pressure isn't as high as it use to be, I'm not sure what the problem is.It is leaking from somewhere I know, I havn't been able to find it, and I have to put a quart in once every 2 1/2 weeks, so it isn't a bad leak.

Maybe the valve cover gasket? DSMs are notorious for valve cover leaks. Is there oil oozing out from your valve cover? That would produce a slow leak like you're referring to. Otherwise, I'm sure Kevin will suggest a few more gaskets and seals where it could be coming from.

Or maybe it's because you're "driving it like you stole it" ;)

losing that much oil i think it would be 100% oblivious where the leak is...

I've had cars where I've had to put a quart in every 3 days lol.

I don't see any oil oozing from the valve cover gasket, however, I'm thinking it would cause a drop in oil pressure, anyone agree?

Oh yeah, I use to "Drive it like I stole it" now I tend to "Drive it like its going to fall apart any minute" hehe

Can you smell any oil burning or do you have blue smoke out of your exhaust?

I have seen a bit of blue smoke, and yes sometimes I do smell oil burning. I should have mentioned this.

Update: On the way home tonight The car started bucking around, like it didn't know whether it wanted to go or not, Wish I could just sell the damn thing and get a GSX, but my wife insists I get a 4 door lol

Hehe, I have seen a couple cheap GST's and GSX's around here, but I still don't think I can convince her.

do you notice any puffs of smoke when you shift, or smell any oil when you get on it?

thats easy youve got a bad vaccuum hose somewhere i think.

BTW, my 91 laser oozes oil out the top of the valver cover, but its not losing enough oil to REALlY worry about yet, but it doesnt smoke and the only way i can tell its comin out at all is the rest of the cover is dirty and dusty except for that spot.

It only get blue smoke if I get on it right after starting it, After it gets warmed up it doesn't have any smoke at all. I don't smell any oil either.

valve stem seals likely.

If you need a 4-door get a AWD Galant vr4 and mod the heck out of it.
