hey guys I recently purchased a 4gze with about 90k miles on it and is the process of a complete tear down and rebuild. My question(s) is what would be the most effective way to raise the compression of the motor? shaving the block and head or putting in aftermarket forged pistons for a 4age(na) and if I did raise the compression will the stock head bolts hold? So far I've had the head and intake manifold ported and polished, 3 angle valve job, had the valves polished and honed the blocked, I ordered a oversized HKS crank pulley to increase boost, TRD valve springs and retainers, TRD fuel regulator, and 3rd gen. supra fuel pump. I wanna do about 250hp and I figureed if I raised the compression from 8.5>1 to 9>1 that should put me right where I wanna be. I figure forged pistons for a NA 4age would work best since there CR is higher than the gze but would like a second opinion. Thanx

with the mods you just mentioned i seriously doubt you will break 180whp. you want to get the GZE high comp pistons. Do not get the NA. And if you dont mind me asking why are you going with such a small crank pulley. You will only hit 10psi with that. ANd you will also need an aftermarket intercooler. Good luck on your rebuild. :D
