hey everyone, i've got a 85 sierra LWB 4x2 and i've been thinkin' of switching it over to 4x4, could anyone point me in the right direction for the change over, like a FAQ or a DYI guide any info would be greatly appreciated, i know it'll cost me, i guess i'll have to do the swap a little at a time when money permits

I would just buy another '85 4X4 and put your body and powertrain on that. Get the other frame sand blasted and treated. We had one done for around $300.

Sounds like a good project, keep us updated on your progress.

true that, it would be much easier, cost effective, and better if you bought a 4X4 chassis that you could blast paint and get all ready for the parts off of your truck. If you were to convert yours, its not too hard, but it will require your truck to be off the road for a while. New driveshafts, transfercase, axle, shifter, linkage, etc.
