The first problem sounds like your 1/2nd syncronizers, pretty common problem for our trannies, to help the problem you can change your tranny fluid, but it won't solve the problem, I couldn't shift above 3k before without grinding after changing tranny fluid I can shift at about 5k now.

Thanks i will try that till i can get the tranny taken out to get fixed. Do you know how high you can rev the motor before the govener stalls the should be.

That 2nd gear problem is quite common. I agree completely on the fluid change, I'm running a blend of synthetic and slic 50 gear lube in mine and it has helped a lot. Someone else suggested a special GM gear oil, but I don't remember what thread it was or what it was called.

On the cutting out problem, it isn't because of a governor, none of the DSM's have them. Something else is going on there.

As for the GM Stuff, that was me :) I replaced my Transmission fluid with GM Syncromesh and its worked wonders for me so far, I've been running it for 4 or 5 months now with no complaints. My first post in this forum was about this problem :)
